Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Boosted In Russian Pursuit

Arsenal have been boosted in their pursuit of CSKA Moscow attacker Alan Dzagoev, with the Russian admitting he’s ready to test himself at a top European club.

The summer transfer window is open and Football Talk will bring you all the latest transfer news doing the rounds in the papers. Today, Arsenal receive a boost in their pursuit of a Russian attacker.

Alan Dzagoev

Arsenal have been boosted in their pursuit of CSKA Moscow attacker Alan Dzagoev, with the player admitting he’s ready to test himself in Europe.

The 21-year-old has been one of the stars of Euro 2012 so far, helping Russia secure four points from their first two games against the Czech Republic and Poland to take control of group A.

Dzagoev scored three goals in those two matches and this form has alerted several clubs throughout Europe to his talents.

According to the Metro, Arsenal are one of the clubs interested in signing the CSKA attacker, who could be available on the cheap this summer as he has only 6 months remaining on his current contract with the Russians.

The Gunners have now been boosted with the news that Dzagoev is ready to test himself in Europe, but any talk over his future will have to wait until after the European championships. When asked about speculation linking him with a move, he said:

‘Of course, I have the desire to try myself in other clubs in Europe. But I’ll think about it only after the tournament. Now I’m doing my own job here,’

Dzagoev is quoted as saying in the Metro.

FT Verdict

Judging by his performances so far at Euro 2012, i don’t think Arsenal are going to be the only club in for Dzagoev.

With just 6 months left on his contract, no doubt several clubs will be vying for his signature this summer and Arsene Wenger isn’t one for entering in to bidding wars. So i can’t see the Russian ending up at the Gunners unfortunately.
