Yann M'Vila

Yann M’Vila’s proposed move to Arsenal is in serious doubt after the Rennes midfielder was involved in yet another disciplinary incident.

Reports over the past few weeks have suggested that the Gunners are on the verge of landing the 21-year-old, with the Telegraph claiming a £17.7m deal to take him to north London was all but secured.

However, the Metro claim a move to Arsenal is now in doubt after manager Arsene Wenger was left unimpressed with M’Vila’s involvement in a row with France coach Laurent Blanc at Euro 2012. The Rennes midfielder was said to have been in a spat along with Hatem Ben Arfa, Jeremy Menez and former Arsenal ace Samir Nasri.

This isn’t the first time M’Vila’s been involved in disciplinary issues with him being arrested three times in the past two years. Offenses include attacking a restaurant owner, using prostitutes and punching a teenager after the boy tried to kiss his sister.

These incidents have left many questioning the players character and whether he’s got what it takes to make it at the very top level, despite his obvious talent.

The Metro claim that Wenger is now considering ending his interest altogether and concentrating on other less troublesome targets.

FT Verdict

I’d be gutted to miss out on M’Vila. He looks like the midfield enforcer we’ve been crying out for.

However, Arsene Wenger likes a happy dressing room and won’t risk upsetting morale within the squad by introducing a questionable character. If Wenger thinks he can tame him, i say he’s worth a punt but if not, it’s probably best to steer clear.
