Club Goes To War Over Van Persie

Roberto Mancini is ready to go to war with senior officials at Manchester City over their pursuit of Arsenal striker Robin van Persie. Find out the details here

Robin van Persie 2

Roberto Mancini is ready to go to war with senior officials at Manchester City over their pursuit of Arsenal striker Robin van Persie, according to the Mirror.

The Dutchman has only one year left on his current contract and the Mirror claim he has refused to sign a contract extension after telling manager Arsene Wenger he is fed up of not winning trophies.

Further talks between the two parties are expected when the 28-year-old returns to pre-season early next month, but the Gunners fear they may have to sell their captain this summer.

Manchester City are keen to take advantage of RVP’s situation and offer him an escape route from north London, with the Premier League champions reportedly willing to offer him a bumper pay-package as well as the chance to win silverware.

Senior management at the Etihad have made it clear the club must cut their wage bill before any move for Van Persie can be made, with Emmanuel Adebayor, Carlos Tevez, Roque Santa Cruz and Edin Dzeko all available.

However, boss Roberto Mancini has made Van Persie his number one transfer target this summer and is demanding the club make their move to land the striker as soon as possible. It’s believed that the Italian is ready to go head-to-head with his bosses to ensure he gets his man.

FT Verdict

It’s been a couple of days since the Mirror reported on the RVP situation, can’t say I’ve missed it too much to be honest. Manager want’s player now, the money-men want to sell first. What’s new?

It sounds like Man City are making the assumption that Arsenal will sell and that even if we did, that Robin will join them. It would be crazy for Wenger to allow yet another one of his best players to join City and i honestly think the club would rather see him run down the final year of his contract than sell him to City.

And would Van Persie move to the Etihad? I’m not convinced. Yes he’ll earn more, and yes he’ll have more chance of winning trophies. But he will LOSE something that he might consider more valuable; the love from the Arsenal faithful. I’m not sure he’ll risk losing his legendary status as the Emirates by ‘doing a Nasri’. Plus, didn’t his own father say recently that a move to another Premier League team was impossible? Nuff said.

I’m certain this won’t be the last report on the future of Van Persie, but we’ll keep you up-to-date on the latest developments throughout the summer.

What a complete and utter load of rubbish, this is a case of some moron creating a myth that doesn’t exist.

Roberto Mancini would never disrespect his bosses,Sheikh Mansour has done nothing but fully support Mancini all the way.

All this Van Percie to City rubbish is just that, a load of cods wallop created by a bunch of muppets.

Mancini is just a complete and utter idiot and Man City can’t build a team which has been proven over years and years. they are only buying success. Without all the money they would just be a laughing stock as always.
Without the money do you really think Mancini and four fifths of the mercanaries would even know who City were?
Anyone connected with that club are just money hungry scum

Anyone connected with that club are just money hungry scum

You really need to get a life City are not the first club to do this after the likes of MU and Chelsea and if you would take a deeper look into what the club are doing for our City you would change your tune. We are investing 500 million in a new training centre to bring on new English talent. Creating Colleges, Social facilities, and opportunities for a lot of young kids in a deprived area of Manchester. Trouble is you never hear about the good side of our club, City in the Community has been going for 25 years, what have the tosh from the capital done for their area????

I’m an arsenal fan but i study in manchester and i have to agree city do alot of work in the community and me and some uom students who play for the footy team were invited to their training facilities and watch the team train and al of them said hello and were brilliant. so Well said my man i agree with you you never hear the good but the bad always turns up

the City and Arsenal fans points are that City are not scum, as indicated by the examples they gave.

what exactly do Arsenal do for their local community? lets have some examples, or are you full of it?

The amount of money in our game is becoming obscene! One thing will stop this and that is wage capping. No footballer on the planet is worth more than £3000 a week.
If wage capping was introduced then you can lower ticket prices to games and the real football fan can afford to go to matches again.

Good point Norm. I mean look at Adebayor for example. No work rate and thinks he is God’s gift. What club in their right mind would want to pay this clown a 6 figure salary? Oh yes, that’s right…Man City. Just goes to prove what total idiots they are!!

        June 28, 2012 at 10:55 am

Adebayor would be one of the players on the Maximum £3000. More like £300 🙂

JSP2303 is a complete muppet (I am keeping it clean) I have supported MCFC for 35 years and watched UTD, CHELSKI, BLACKBURN & the ARS dominate the top end of the player purchases while we settled for scraps and cast offs… You are just a green eyed monster coz the ARS will NEVER I say NEVER win a PL title again and thats got to hurt :-))) So take your “Anyone who is connected to City is an idiot” comment and shove it where you crawled out of!!!!!

Wat iz JSP2304 talking abt? Is it not shameful dat with all the money u spent, u had to struggle dat hard even to match-fix ur last game to win a trophy. One wld think dat with ur spree u wld go unbeaten or even win all ur games

Oh and one more thing…. Whats it like to be a feeder club for City 🙂 Maybe if Wiltshire puts in a good shift this coming season we might pop back to take him off your hands just because we can 🙂

Funny the only players that have gone to city are the ones that I personally wouldn’t want at arsenal we are building something special here but you northern monkeys wouldn’t know anything about that and we will win a trophy this season with rvp in the team watch this space

No need to thank me for proof reading your post Conor, also I would put capital letters and punctuation in your posts in future, it makes you look more intelligent and credible.

Looking forward to watching your prediction crash and burn spectacularly next season Conor.

Leave rvp to be adamant on his own but I stil like it the way he behave,it will make Wenger to sign more players.I knew RVP is not ungrateful like that stupid Nasri who uttered word like he had matured not knowing that he’s just an unripe fruit appeared attractive on a tree.Let wait till August to know more about RVP contract extension

As for the Mirror. Nothing they publish is ever true as how can they surmise what RVPs thoughts when they haven’t even spoken to the player himself. Just the usual crap being made up to sell their useless rag. And of course the usual suspects like the saddo City fans swallow it like man juice..

RVP should learn frm others mistake; personnally I love RVP even those periods he was out injured. He should be appreciative to arsenal for her patience. But if he want to go; he’ll get himself screwed up.

RVP will leave arsnil wotever happens coz he wants to go to a club that wins trophies, and that AINT gonna happen at arsnil.

Little words is okay for the wise. We shouldn’t discourage vp on where should go next. He should remember that we ( arsenal ) bear alot for him, during his bad and injuries time, we stayed by his side. I hope he won’t leave us now for his legend sake.

‘And would Van Persie move to the Etihad? I’m not convinced. Yes he’ll earn more, and yes he’ll have more chance of winning trophies.’

    Don’t agree with either point:
    1) it is nonsense to assume that citeh will be willing to fork out silly wages, there is nothing other than assumption that because they have done so in the past they will do so again;
    2) RvP might have as big a chance of winning trophies at Arsenal. When you look at who have already arrived……

    June 28, 2012 at 4:36 pm

Jst 2 trophies and you think man city is the best team in the epl, i laugh in swahili, soon u will add another one then u will start comparing ur sh*t club with united. I think you should try and beat AWs record be4 u think of ARSENAL

  24. gunner357

    June 28, 2012 at 4:42 pm

not convinced unless it has something to do with illuminati. i personally think there just playing games giving the media something to talk bout because they would do it ne way then RVP will sign contract then wenger will say publicly i told you so then that should cool the hype around gunners for a little while. so we can prepare to be league champions again in silence

    • JSP2304

      June 29, 2012 at 9:38 am

Deluded… You have about as much chance of winning the PL as you have of being relegated! Neither will clearly happen…. Top 4 a best but I predict 5th behind MCFC, Chelski, MUFC & Spurs… Keep the faith though mate!
