Chelsea and Manchester United have been boosted in their pursuit of Axel Witsel with the news that Benfica are ready to sell the midfielder this summer, according to talkSPORT.
The Belgian international moved to Benfica last summer from Standard Liege for £6.3m and had an excellent debut season, playing a pivotal role in the Portuguese side’s Champions League run to the quarter finals.
The report claims that the Lisbon club are now ready to cash in on Witsel this summer but have slapped a £20m price-tag on the players head.
talkSPORT suggest that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has held a long standing interest in the player, while Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo is also on the look out for a combative midfielder and has been impressed by what he’s seen of Witsel.
A move to the Premier League would no doubt suit the Belgian’s aggressive style of play, but should either Chelsea or Manchester United make their interest official they may face competition from La Liga champions Real Madrid who are also said to be tracking the 23-year-old.

Witsel is a good player and he can wil fit in @ Old Trafford. Sir Alex and United Excos should please splash the cash and get us quality players!

Sign Hulk, Lucas Modric, Mosses aπϑ Maicon, why I choose d Inter defender is b/cos he ωȋ̝̊̅ℓℓ cheap to do business wit. Blues ωȋ̝̊̅ℓℓ be back again on their fit. Blues without a strong player like Drogba then Hulk, else we ωȋ̝̊̅ℓℓ have problems in d front.
