Porto striker Hulk is keen on a move to the Premier League but Chelsea will face stiff competition for his services, according to the players agent.

According to talkSPORT, the Brazilian hitman has been strongly tipped for a move to Chelsea, starting last summer when former Porto boss Andre Villas-Boas took charge at Stamford Bridge. Despite AVB leaving the club, the Blues have retained their interest in Hulk and a £38m deal was thought to be close to completion last month.

However, that transfer has yet to be finalised and the 25-year-old’s agent, Teodoro Fonseca, is doing all he can to push through a move to the Premier League, claiming his client is the most wanted player in Europe this summer and would like a move to England in order to boost his chances of playing at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

“Hulk is the most coveted player in Europe this summer.

“I never said he wants to leave Porto because he belongs to the club, but if he is sold, it has to be in the best way possible.

“Now his dream is to play at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, and it is my opinion that the Premier League is the best place he could play.”

Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo did little to dampen speculation linking the club with Hulk at a press conference on Wednesday.

The Italian confirmed he is monitoring the market for potential opportunities to add more quality to his squad, but when asked specifically about his interest in the Brazilian striker, Di Matteo suggested he couldn’t speak about individual names as it would affect the transfer fee.

“We will monitor the market and if there is any other good opportunities to increase the quality and we are able to do it, we will move for it.”

“I am not going to discuss our targets. Every time you say something the price goes up.”
