Arsenal are set to report Manchester City to the FA for allegedly ‘tapping up’ striker Robin van Persie, according to the Sun.

The Dutchman’s time at the Emirates looks set to come to an end after he revealed on Wednesday that he was not going to renew his contract at the club. Arsene Wenger and chief executive Ivan Gazidis are said to have called the players agent, Kees Vos, on Thursday to demand an explanation as to why their captain had announced he wanted to leave via Twitter.

Manchester City are looking to take advantage of the situation and have been strongly linked with a move for the 30-goal striker this summer.

The Sun claim Arsenal are convinced that Vos has already been in contact with City officials over a potential move to the Etihad, with Vos regularly attending matches at the Etihad as a guest of the club, and the Gunners are now mulling over lodging a formal complaint for alleged ‘tapping up’ of RVP.

Arsenal were the last club to successfully prove another team had made an illegal approach for a player, which breaks the Premier League Section K rule, when Chelsea were fined £300,000 for their part in signing Ashley Cole in 2005.

However, it’s understood that City would fight any allegations made against them as they maintain they have done nothing wrong.
