Unsettled Arsenal striker Robin van Persie will hold fresh talks over his future with manager Arsenal Wenger and chief executive Ivan Gazidis this week, according to the Mirror.

The report claims that van Persie is now back in London after returning from his holiday in the Caribbean at the weekend and will meet with the Gunners supremos in the coming days.

Wenger is keen to meet his captain on his own without interference from his agent Kees Vos. The Frenchman wants to see if the statement released last week accurately reflect his feelings and to establish whether he has any hope of persuading the 28-year-old to see out the final year of his contract.

Wenger and the Arsenal board are said to be fuming after Vos released a statement declaring RVP wont be signing a new contract without first consulting the club.

Manchester City and Juventus continue to lead the race to sign the Dutchman and are both expected to make their interest official this week.

Roberto Mancini is desperate to land Van Persie and it’s believed the Premier League champions will submit a bid of around £15m once they agree a deal to sell Emmanuel Adebayor to Tottenham.

Officials at the Etihad are confident they can get the 30-goal striker on the cheap and are determined not o pay over the odds for a player who is almost 29, has a poor injury record and has publicly confirmed he wont be signing a new contract at the Emirates.

This stance may play into the hands of Juventus, with the Italians keen to conclude a deal quickly and know the Gunners would prefer to sell abroad.

Manchester United, PSG and Real Madrid are all also monitoring the situation and could yet enter the bidding should the Dutchman become available this summer.

He’s played at a top level for one full season AFAIC, this does not suddenly make him world class. I’d be inclined to hold him to his contract and explain to him that from past history it’s far more likely he will only play 40-60% of the season due to injury then repeat his performance of last season. Then let’s see who wants to pay 250k a week for a 30 year old with an appalling injury record.

    BTW heard of punctuation?

rvp should be sold and arsenal make a replacement very faster but the player to replace the dutch man must be a player of world class and not otherwise, rvp has got a poor record of injuries as well as the age is running out now, bring young star of world class.

Not really sure what’s going on with RvP is it him saying that he wants to leave or his Manager? If he wants to go then we should let him 1 good season doesn’t make a world class player, yes he was very good but what about the other 7 years when Arsenal stood by him when he only scored about 9 goals per season.
