Chelsea have beaten Tottenham to the signing of Brazilian playmaker Oscar, according to the Daily Mail.

The report claims that the Blues have secured a £25m deal for the Internacional ace after beating former manager Andre Villas-Boas to the players signature.

Tottenhams new boss thought he was in pole position to land the 20-year-old after submitting an offer believed to be in the region of £11m last week.

However, European champions Chelsea have now responded swiftly to blow Tottenham’s offer out the water and the Mail claim they have agreed a £25m deal with the Brazilians.

Having already signed Eden Hazard and Marko Marin this summer, Roberto Di Matteo has continued to rejuvenate his attacking options ahead of the new season with the addition of one of the most highly-rated players to come out of Brazil in years.

Oscar has scored 19 goals in 70 games for Internacional and burst on to the international scene with a hat-trick in the final of the 2011 FIFA under 20 World Cup against Portugal.

He is most comfortable playing as a playmaker behind the striker, but is also capable of playing on the left or right of midfield. Chelsea fans will be able to get a glimpse of their new signing as he is due to take part in the London Olympics with Brazil.

Football Talk Verdict

Oscar is a superb youngster and would be an excellent signing for Chelsea, if he’s able to adapt to the Premier League.

However, despite what the Daily Mail claims, we’re not convinced this is a ‘done deal’ just yet. We advise caution in getting too excited before this deal is officially confirmed by the club.

I wonder why one should waste his time writing about news that is not yet confirmed.why not place it under rumor?
The same way it was reported about Moses the other day being on his way to Chelsea, but it turned out not to be so at least not yet.

But as for Mr Peter 4Spruts, do not get so angry the competition is still on,may be your spruts may succeed if they can shell out up to 26million pounds to beat Chelsea which I very much doubt!

Your all writing this after a story appeared in the “daily mail”
the daily mail never have any inside knowledge and merely make rubbish up to get hits on the website. By now you should all realise that there is never any truth on the daily mail football news, its all pure rubbish.

      @ Vik

We ‘left that part out’ because it wasn’t reported by the Daily Mail. This story is summary of the Mail’s report that Chelsea have agreed a deal for Oscar. We also state at the end of the post that we don’t believe the transfer is a done deal yet.

We are now writing another article about the Internacional president denying receiving any bids for Oscar.

      Thanks

not for long… And your are exactly right about the mail. But various other outlets are reporting that this is NOT a done deal but that his agent is on his way to London to talk and finalize a deal. We will see how this plays out but one thing I can guarantee is that spurs will not outbid Chelsea for him and that IF he goes to the prem it will surely be Chelsea i would imagine. I do get frustrated top with the loose reporting of rumors that happens on a daily basis. I live in America and if any news outlets reported like that over here on American sports like baseball or American football they would be burned at the stake, yet somehow the Mail gets away with doing this OVER AND OVER again, & everybody reports on it like the mail is actually reliable! It’s rediculous!!!!

Just a gentle reminder for chelski fans who are getting carried away with their massive over achievement last season ; yours is the crappiest team ever to win the champions or lampoons league, you were totally owmed in final stages and lucked out big time. Liverpool outplayed yoi at wembley too, dm must have used a careers worth of luck last year. Oh and when avb left chelsea were 5th, you finished 6th….spurs finished 4th.

Chelsea weren’t lucky. They had to play the fantastic defense that won those games. They are the ones that hit the BIGTIME goals that were needed. The other sides didn’t. That’s what it came down to. Chelsea were clinical and the other sides weren’t. And Liverpool outplayed Chelsea in the FA CUP? What game did you watch cause until carrol came in Liverpool looked AWFUL! I am not even a Chelsea supporter as I love my United. But what you are saying is just rediculous and makes no sense. You are clearly bitter about not getting in the champions league after finishing 4th. After the way spurs finished the season they didnt deserve to be in the CL anyways. Chelsea did have luck on they’re side. But what team that wins a major tournament doesn’t? I mean Chelsea had to play Barcelona in Nou Camp with two RBs at CB, down a man, and with strikers as fullbacks. And they still found a way to get through. To me that’s resilience and they deserve a ton of credit for that because I don’t believe there is another team in the world that could have done that. Certainly not my united, and DEFINATELY not spurs.

This is wonderful. Oscar for £25m. Yesterday it was £20m and last night it was £22m, now it’s £25m. And all the while the chairman of Internacional says that there has been no bids for him. I would tend to beleive the chairman as he should know. This shower of idiots are just looking for notice.

If there’s any truth in this ‘bidding’ war I’ll be quite happy for Chelsea to win. £25m is an awful lot of money and Spurs could spend it far more wisely elsewhere.

Iam tired about the rumor the media should come out correct information that make us the fans feel ok. If the deal go through l will be happy, and lpray that deal will happene.

Having got Hazard, Marin, and Mikel who are well loved, and known for their passes ability, I think the addition of Oscar to the above trio will really bring out the result of what Roman is looking for. Welcome Oscar

Oscar is a talented young player, but am confuse with all this transfer saga going on around the net.which one do we believe? The internacional president said that no offer have been tabled for the player and chelseafc sites have been saying that chelsea have outbid hotspur for the player’s signature, which one do we believe? But frm my own opinion,i think they three parties knew what they are doing.Internacional may want less clubs to bid for their player by allowing only chelsea and hotspur to bid.And to make it look as if nothing is being done all they could do is to deny the bid made by chelsea whereas the two clubs have agree. And believe me or not oscar will do his medicals after the olympic in london.

Now the player has said … Im not leaving … Up yours Chelski dreamers … Even he does not want to go to a team that parks the bus …

    • John Raynor

      July 10, 2012 at 12:12 pm

Chelsea didn’t park the bus against Tottenham when they beat them 5-1 in the FA Cup did they? Maybe spurs should have parked the bus in that game….hahahaha
