Afellay To Make £6m North London Move?

North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham have been alerted to the news that Barcelona have made £6m rated playmaker Ibrahim Afellay available for transfer

With the summer transfer window in full swing, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news throughout the summer. Today, Arsenal and Tottenham have been alerted to the news that Ibrahim Afellay is made available for transfer.

Ibrahim Afellay

Arsenal and Tottenham have been alerted to the news that Barcelona have made playmaker Ibrahim Afellay available for transfer, according to the Express.

The report claims that Barca are ready to cash in on the Dutch international this summer and the north London duo have shown an interest in bringing him to England.

Until now the Spanish giants have insisted they wanted to keep hold of the 26-year-old but with a limited transfer budget available this summer, new manager Tito Vilanova has been forced to sell some of his existing squad in order to raise funds for the purchase of Jordi Alba and the prospective deal for Javier Martinez, and Afellay and Adriano are the ones for the chop.

The Catalans are willing to entertain bids of around £6m for the midfielder which will interest long-term admirers Arsenal, as well as Tottenham who the express claim have had two offers rejected for the player in recent years.

Football Talk Verdict

Afellay would be an excellent signing for either Arsenal or Tottenham this summer, and £6m could prove to be the bargain of the century.

However, only if the player can steer clear of injury. Afellay has a poor injury record and no doubt that’s the reason for his low price-tag. But i think he’s worth a punt, as his talent is beyond question.

Wow…some spelling. Afellay is the kind of versatile player that would fit in with Spurs’ squad, and fits the sell-on business acumen of Daniel Levy. Moutinho would be great, as would Krasic – both rumoured to be heading to N17 for talks. In terms of strikers, Damiao and Remy would be ideal, although if a player plus cash swap deal for VDV and Huntelaar could be agreed that would be a viable option too.

Ha ha ha ha, pmsl at the players Spuds fans think they can attract to their obstructed view 30,000 seat sweatbox. Three quarters of those players would demand Champs League every year and please dont say Vertonghen because he’s obviously got no ambition if he’d rather play Europa league when they get lucky every now and then.

Will like to see Affelay in Arsenal. Hope Wenger swings into action.rvp may stay!

      July 10, 2012 at 4:29 pm

That’s exactly the thought that just crossed my mind..RVP often pointed out that ideally he would like to have Affelay on the team and that they would “click” together…Could this be a positive sign and a new twist in the ongoing saga? Guess we will see (soon I hope).

        July 10, 2012 at 6:06 pm

I take it you didn’t read the statement that RVP put out last week? He’s going. That will make it yet another season where Arsenal sell their best player. What makes it worse is that you’ve let him get to the last year of his contract so you’ll probably only get half of what he’s worth at best. That, or he stays and sulks for a year and you get nothing for him next year…

Probably 8million plus Affelay for RVP?

    • Kenny Nwodo

      July 10, 2012 at 8:31 pm

U are offtrack, dat’s not wat we all are saying, we want Affely nd RVP partnership nt Affley as a swap deal 4 RVP

  10. DocBrody

    July 10, 2012 at 4:28 pm

    This will not happen.

His friend, van Persie is leaving Arsenal. I doubt RVP will encourage Affelay to join the gunners. And I’m sure he will actively discourage Affelay from joining the spurs.

There is a remote outside possibility that Arsenal picking up Affellay could happen in some sort of strange bid to keep RvP, but that would just be too convoluted.

The kid seems like he’s smart, he’ll move to Arsenal if he knows where Fabregas came from. He’ll be given a lot of playing time if Walcott leaves. Arsene can turn him into a great player.

dont worry about his injury record at his age just 26 and 251 appearances to his name he has a better average apps made for his age than 3 quarters of our squad.

moses or affellay for half the price?

    July 11, 2012 at 12:28 am

Yeah, we’ll have him. We should get him without any cash outlay too as the skint Catalans probably still owe us money from recent transfers.

Let mr. Wenger go 4 him and if Rvp stays, then it will be great. And nt only that, wenger shld also go 4 M’villa and may be anyc goalkeeper. Then gunners will become the CHAMPS next season. Proud 2 be Arsenal fan.
