Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed he’s looking to add at least one more player to his squad this summer, according to Sky Sports News.

The United boss was speaking at a press conference on Thursday to officially present Shinji Kagawa and Nick Powell as United players, when the Scot revealed his plans for the coming weeks.

Fergie admitted it’s always more difficult to make signings when a major tournament is taking place, but with the European championships now over, he is pressing ahead with strengthening his squad further and has confirmed he’s hoping to add one, if not two, new faces at Old Trafford in the coming weeks.

“We could possibly bring one, maybe two, more in,” said Ferguson.

“When there’s a major international tournament on, there’s a delay in the transfer market. But now the European Championships are over, we’re trying to bring someone in.”

Ferguson expressed his delight at securing the services of Kagawa and Powell, and praised the clubs ability to do business quickly.

“We’ve always done well in terms of getting players at the end of season, instead of waiting all summer.

“In Kagawa’s case, there was a fair bit of negotiating and that kept going for weeks. As for Powell, we knew Dario Gradi [Crewe Alexandra director of football] would help us do the deal quickly.”
