Speaking to Arsenal.com ahead of the Club’s departure for their pre-season tour of Asia, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger gave us an injury update on Jack Wilshere, Bacary Sagna, Abou Diaby, Tomas Rosicky, Emmanuel Frimpong, Mikel Arteta and Lukasz Fabianski.

Sagna, who suffered a second broken leg on the penultimate weekend of last season, is well on the road to recovery and is on course for a return to action in August.

There is also good news on Diaby, who missed the majority of last season with a succession of injuries, as the Frenchman now appears to be back to full fitness and will join Arteta and Fabianski on the tour of Asia.

Frimpng, who picked up a nasty knee ligament injury during his short spell on loan with Wolves last term, is on track to return towards the end of September or perhaps early October.

The news on midfielder Wilshere is a little more sketchy, as the boss is still unable to put a date for his comeback. After missing the entire season last year with an ankle injury, Wilshere is still working his way back and it’s looking increasingly unlikely he will be available for the start of the new season.

There is some bad news for Rosicky though, after he picked up a tendon injury while playing at the Euro’s and will be out for six to eight weeks. Here is what Arsene told Arsenal.com:

on Bacary Sagna (broken fibula)…

“He is doing very well. There are no problems there. But it will be the end of August for him.”

on Abou Diaby, who missed the end of the Premier League season…

“He is fit, raring to go and will be on the tour. That is fantastic news for him and us.”

on Jack Wilshere (ankle)….

“It is impossible to set a concrete deadline at the moment. But it is all OK. He is as quick as we expected him to be. His ankle is good and his knee is good. There is no set-back. It difficult to say ‘it will be this week in September or October’ when he is back in training. He has been out for a year and I don’t want to put any pressure on him.”

on Tomas Rosicky (plantaris tendon)…

“It will be six to eight weeks until he is back in training. It was his [plantaris tendon], it was done at the Euros.”

on Emmanuel Frimpong (knee)…

“Emmanuel is doing very well. It will be the end of September or perhaps into October for him.”

on Mikel Arteta, who missed the end of the Premier League season…

“He is fit now.”

on Lukasz Fabianski, who missed Euro 2012…

“He is OK and will travel to the tour.”

So positive news on the whole but Wilshere and Rosicky are a worry. Hopefully Jack can get back on the pitch asap as we have a tricky start to the Premier League season.
