Uruguayan striker Edison Cavani has hinted he could be tempted by a switch to the Premier League amid reported interest from Chelsea and Manchester City, according to Sky Sports News.

The 25-year-old has become one of Europe’s most wanted strikers after another superb season in Italy, where he scored 33 goals in 43 appearances for Napoli last term.

This form has attracted interest from several European heavyweights, with Sky Sports claiming Chelsea and Manchester City are among the clubs chasing the powerful front man this summer.

Cavani is currently in the UK representing his country at the London 2012 Olympic Games but took the time to answer questions regarding his future. When quizzed about reported interest from the Premier League, Cavani reaffirmed his commitment to Napoli but revealed he may be tempted to try his luck in England if one of the big clubs came calling.

“The big English clubs want me? I answer: Forza Napoli! (Power Napoli!)

“But it is said that English football is art, why not think about it one day if there is that possibility?”

It was reported last week that Cavani was set to demand a move away from Naples after his wife was mugged whilst walking to her car, however the South American has claimed the attacker was not a football supporter.

“But it was not a football fan. It is not one of those Neapolitans who, in recent years, have shown me such great affection.”

Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis recently claimed it would take a bid of £78m to land the talented striker.
