Several Premier League clubs have been alerted to the news that Porto defender Alvaro Pereira is keen to secure a move this summer, according to Sky Sports News.

The Uruguay international has become one of Euorope’s most highly-rated full backs after another excellent season in Portugal, and Porto are said to value the player at €30million (£23.8m).

Having joined the Portuguese champions in 2009 from Romanian side CFR Cluj, Pereira has gone on to make over 70 appearances for the club but it now seems he feels the time is right to move on with a number of European clubs interested.

Heading the queue are Chelsea, who have been strongly linked with the full-back for over a year, but Sky Sports suggest that Liverpool and Tottenham, as well as PSG, Napoli and Juventus, are also interested in the 26-year-old.

Pereira’s representative, Flavio Perchmen, has confirmed his client hopes to leave Porto this summer, but they are waiting for clubs to make their move.

“I spoke with Alvaro last week and he is calm. We are waiting to find out if there is any offer.

“We think everything will go well and that he can leave the club, but right now we do not have any concrete offer.”

Perchmen is quoted as saying by Sky Sports
