Chelsea Finally Confirm £7m Azpilicueta Signing
Chelsea football club has finally announced the signing of Cesar Azpilicueta from French side Marseille wit the European champions paying a reported fee of £7m
Chelsea have finally announced the signing of Cesar Azpilicueta from Marseille.
The Blues have been strongly linked with a move for the Spanish right back this summer, as boss Roberto Di Matteo searched to replace the departed Jose Bosingwa.
The Londoners have struggled to agree a fee with the French club, with the clubs president Vincet Labrune recently claiming they had rejected a £3.2m bid from the European champions.
However, Chelsea announced on ChelseaFC.com this morning that they had finally agreed a deal to sign the 22-year-old. Sky Sports News claim the fee is £7m and he is now training with his new team mates ahead of this weekends game with Newcastle.
A statement on chelseafc.com read:
Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Cesar Azpilicueta.
The 22-year-old right-back, who recently represented Spain at the London Olympics, arrives at Stamford Bridge following a two-year spell in France’s Ligue 1 with Marseille.
Azpilicueta joins fellow Spaniards Juan Mata, Oriol Romeu and Fernando Torres at Stamford Bridge and is the clubs fifth major signing in a summer of rebuilding in West London.
