Arsenal travel to Anfield on Sunday to take on Liverpool looking to register their first win of the season, here is the latest team news ahead of the game.

Boss Arsene Wenger has completed his weekly pres conference and in between being quizzed on transfers and the future of Theo Walcott, the Frenchman gave injury updates on Laurent Koscielny, Wojciech Szczesny, Bacary Sagna and Jack Wilshere.

The good news is that there are no fresh injury worries going in to the game and Koscielny is available again after missing the first two games of the season. However, Szczesny will face a late fitness test after missing last weeks draw with Stoke with a back complaint.

There was also some positive news on the fitness of Sagna and Wilshere, with Wenger confirming both will be assessed after next weeks international break and are close to returning the full training.

Here is what Arsene told Arsenal.com:

on the latest developments…

Koscielny will be back in the squad. Szczesny has a test tomorrow and Saturday. Everybody else should be alright.

on Sagna and Wilshere…

They are doing well but of course they are not available for Sunday. We still have to assess them again after the international break. After that they should not be too far away from normal training.

After keeping two clean sheets in our first two games, should Koscielny be brought straight back in to the team? Vermaelen is captain so it’s highly unlikely he will be replaced, so the man set for the chop is Per Mertesacker.

The German has performed very well in our opening two games, particularly against Stoke, so would it be fair to drop him? Many will say we needed Per against Stoke because of their aerial threat but will be exposed when we face a team like Liverpool, which could be a fair point.

Mertesacker would much prefer to face Peter Crouch than Luis Suarez, that’s for sure. So perhaps it’s best to bring in Koscielny for this one?
