Atletico Madrid striker Ramadel Falcao is set to move to the Premier League this January, according to the players father.

The Colombian hitman is one of the deadliest strikers in world football and demonstrated this once again with a stunning hit-trick against European champions Chelsea during Madrid’s 4-1 Super Cup win on Friday night.

The strikers father, also named Radamel, has revealed he has spoken with his son and claims Manchester City and Chelsea are leading the chase to sign him this January.

Falcao senior also suggests Chelsea could be the 26-year-old’s preferred destination, claiming he has always been a huge fan the Blues. He is quoted as telling the Daily Mail:

‘There are three teams interested – Manchester City, Chelsea and a Russian team,’ said Falcao senior.

‘Falcao has always wanted to play in the Premier League.

‘Ever since he was a boy he has loved Chelsea and has always thought it would be an honour to play for a big Premier League team.’

Reports in Colombia claim Chelsea have already sealed a pre-contract agreement to sign the player in January, but while Radamel refused to be drawn on the speculation, he did reveal that the striker’s release clause is set at €55m.

‘I don’t want to talk about any pre-agreements,’ added Radamel.

‘I spoke to Falcao very briefly yesterday. The minimum release clause in his contract with Atletico Madrid is about 55million Euros, but Falcao doesn’t want to talk figures.’

He was then asked is his son would be playing in the Premier League by the time the next transfer window closed, to which he replied.

‘Yes, it’s very likely.’

Falcao spent three years at Porto scoring an incredible 72 goals in just 87 games. This earned him a move to Atletico Madrid last summer and he has continued that fine form, scoring 42 goals in just 53 games so far.

It sounds like Chelsea could be leading the race but you can never discount Manchester City as they will be able to match any offer the Blues can make. One things for sure, if he does come to England  in January, Premier League defences better watch out!
