Former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has admitted he’s frustrated with life at Barcelona, according to the Daily Mail.

After spending eight years in England with the Gunners between 2003-2011, Fabregas returned ‘home’ to Catalonia last summer in a £30m transfer.

The move back to his boyhood club was supposed to be a dream-come-true for the 25-year-old, but Fabregas has revealed all is not well at the Nou Camp.

The Spanish midfielder’s form has been called into question and the player himself has admitted he is frustrated by his inconsistent performances.

New boss Tito Vilanova has tried to regain the players confidence by starting him in all three Primera Division games so far this season, but his form has been poor and Fabregas was substituted after just 63 minutes of Sunday’s 1-0 win over Valencia.

Cesc has regularly found himself among the substitutes during his time at the club and also admitted he’s frustrated at his role in the team and not being considered a first team regular.

Fabregas told Marca that he while he may put a brave face on during the games, he goes home unhappy when he’s a sub. He told Radio Marca:

‘There’s no such thing as a great substitute in the world of football.

‘I couldn’t tell you what makes a great substitute.

‘I always wish my team-mates well and put a happy face on.

‘If I have to take my unhappy face home then so be it, but I would never let my team-mates or manager see it.’

‘Everybody likes to play every minute of the season,’ he added.

‘I’ve always said that I play for the best team in the world, but I came here to compete, to learn and enjoy, not to sit wracking my brains.

‘The manager knows what I can offer. But across the three positions that I can play, I am competing with the three best players in the world.”

Fabregas is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail

However, Fabregas isn’t ready to quit just yet, and is determined to make his mark at Barcelona.

‘I’m delighted to be a part of this team but when a coach tells me I have to go, I’ll go.

‘But I will not make it easy for him to do so, by any means. I will keep going, looking forward to the time that things change. I came here to see out my career.’

This situation was predicted by many Arsenal fans when Cesc left last summer. He was never going to be able to command a first team spot easily at Barca or the carry the responsibility he had at Arsenal.

But while some Gooners have read these comments and called for a return to Arsenal, in reality it’s extremely unlikely to happy any time soon.

We do have a buy-back option on him, so you never know in the future, but Cesc is a determined young man and won’t give up his Barca-dream just yet.
