Jack Wilshere has handed Arsenal a huge boost with the news that the midfielder is set to return to full training this week, according to the Daily Mail.

The 20-year-old has been on the sidelines for over a year with an ankle injury that required two serious operations while he also underwent surgery on a long-standing knee issue earlier this summer.

But it now looks like Jack is in the final stages of his recovery and his long-awaited return is almost upon us.

Wilshere began working with the ball again a couple of weeks ago and is now ready to take the next step in his rehabilitation programme by returning to full first team training with the rest of the squad this week.

The Mail report that Arsenal could now set-up a behind closed doors friendly for Wilshere to take part in or they may decide to ease him back into action with the Under-21’s side to give him much-needed game-time before he’s considered for the first team.

Boss Arsene Wenger is determined not to rush the youngster back too soon and after all the set-backs he’s received and having not played since August 2011, it’s understandable the Frenchman will take a cautious approach.

With the Arsenal midfield looking impressive, there is no need to bring Wilshere back too soon. Let him play some Under-21 games first, build his fitness and confidence back up and he should be ready for first team action towards the end of October.
