Corinthians have insisted star midfielder Paulinho has no intention of joining Chelsea amid rumours the European champions are lining up a big-money bid, according to Sky Sports News.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder has been in excellent form for the Brazilian outfit over the past two years and has been linked with a move to Europe during recent transfer windows.

Chelsea are the latest club to be credited with interest with reports suggesting the Premier League giants are preparing a big-money move for the player.

However, Corinthians manager Tite has hit back at those claims insisting Paulinho is happy in Brazil and has no intention of moving any time soon, and he plans to remain in his homeland to continue his development.

When asked about rumours linking Paulinho with a move to Chelsea, Tite is quoted as saying by Sky Sports:

“I have no idea where this information has come from,”

“We are at an important stage in Corinthians’ history and this information will not disrupt us.

“Money doesn’t buy everything. It could be a lot of money, but if the player is smart and has ambition like Paulinho does, then money will not be enough.”

“Everyone wants him, but that changes nothing.

“Corinthians come first. The biggest asset a club have is their players and their achievements here.

“I want him to stay and I praise Paulinho’s intelligence. When he decided to stay here, he increased the value of everybody.

“He is at a club where he is settled, in a system that suits him, so his career will continue to grow.”

Tite went on to claim that making the move to Europe doesn’t always work out for some players and they would be better served remaining in Brazil, before hinting that Paulinho would stay with the club until after the 2014 World Cup at the very least:

“Hernanes, for example, moved to Lazio. He was doing fantastically well here, but is not playing much now.

“Paulinho was smart and everyone in Brazilian football wins.

“If one goes to another club and doesn’t play, an entire career suffers. It is a missed opportunity for both the player and the club. Paulinho understands that.

“The World Cup (in 2014) will be another important step in his career, and he knows that.”
