Hamburg sporting director Frank Arnesen says the club plan to hold talks with striker Son Heung-min about a new contract amid reported interest from Liverpool, according to Sky Sports News.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed an excellent start to the new season, netting four times in his opening seven games for the German side.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to add to his strike-force when the January transfer window re-opens after losing summer signing Fabio Borini for three-months due to injury, and Son is thought to be high on the Northern Irishman’s wish-list.

However, while Arnesen understand’s why the young striker is attracting interest, he’s adamant Hamburg won’t be letting him go without a fight.

“Son has been brilliant in recent weeks so it is not surprising to see other clubs are interested in him,”

“We’ll do everything to keep him. He is happy here and we’re confident of convincing him to extend his contract.”

Arnesen is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News

The South Korean still has two years to run on his current deal but Hamburg are keen to open talks over an extension after Son’s excellent start to the season.
