Arsenal Handed Injury Boost Ahead Of Man Utd Clash

Wojciech Szczesny

Arsenal have been handed an injury boost ahead of their trip to Old Trafford on Saturday with first choice goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny returning to training after six weeks on the sidelines.

The Gunners travel to Manchester on Saturday lunchtime looking to improve upon last seasons scoreline that saw us humbled 6-1 by United and the potential return of Szczesny is no doubt a major boost ahead of the game.

Szczesny has been out of action for over six weeks after injuring his ankle following our 6-1 win over Southampton back in September, but the latest pictures from training on Monday morning published on shows the 22-year-old is back in full training with the rest of the squad.

With Lukasz Fabianski also out injured, Italian Vito Mannone has filled the void in the absence of the Polish pair. While Mannone may have performed reasonably well on occasion, he still hasn’t filled us with confidence, despite keeping goal for the side that currently boasts the best defensive record in the Premier League.

If Szczesny can prove his fitness this week in training, i would fully expect him to return between the sticks this coming weekend. Szczesny had an uncertain start to the season after a simple mistake allowed Southampton to nick a consolation, but he’s still a far better keeper than Mannone and should certainly start at Old Trafford if fit. Mannone simply hasn’t done enough to keep hold of the No.1 shirt.

Would you start Szczesny on Saturday or has Mannone done enough to keep his place? Get involved in the comments section.

Vito hasen’t done enough to keep out secezny bt i believe vito shd be in goal against man utd for continuity and concfidence while secezny shd be introduced gradually.

I hope the Polish stopper comes back to play a blinder and foil red faced. This guy,the gretaest epl manager thanks to the trillions if not billions,is the most hated figure with most Arsenal fans and neutrals.Nothing would give me greater satisfaction than to see his face redder as his plan is foiled.
To do so Arsenal if not Arsene will have to realise the epl is not the La Liga where only Barca and RM count. When the other teams face these two, invariably they always lose but not in the epl where even Blacburn had the temerity to beat ref in his onw lair.
To beat the disgusting rf,Arsenal mustembrace anti soccer. This may not be Arsene’s idea of how soccer is to be played. To do otherwise will lead to an inevitable loss.

A lot of you don’t know what you’re talking about clearly, the only person talkin sense on here is ALABI. Of course we need our number one keeper agaisnt United. Mannone weakness is crosses in the box yet that’s united strategy its obvious. Mannone hasent done enough and to avoid a repeat of last season, we need Scezney in net simple.#COYG
