Arsenal Player Ratings vs Man Utd

Arsenal were comfortably beaten by Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime. Here are Arsenal player ratings from the game by Lloyd the Gooner

Arsenal were beaten 2-1 by Man Utd at Old Trafford on Saturday with former Gunners captain Robin van Persie opening the scoring inside three minutes. Patrice Evra made it 2-0 before Santi Cazorla pulled one back for the visitors in the final minute. Here are Arsenal player ratings by ‘Lloyd the Gooner’.

Andre Santos Arsenal

In the first half the team had no belief, very worrying. In the second we saw something of a performance, at least. The season is still young and things may well improve, stay calm and carry on.

Arsenal Ratings

Mannone 7. Did well. If ok is good enough he may be….ok! We will need a game changer to progress, a Seaman, a Lehman. Vito is not one of them yet.

Sagna 7. This player is disillusioned at Arsenal. His reaction when things go wrong are a dead giveaway. Next one out of the door Arsene, be warned.

Mertesacker 8. “Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, here I am stuck in the middle with you.“ Ok Stealers Wheel got there first but Per has a point!

Vermaelen 5. Tommy next time you’re thinking of having a stinker try somewhere other than Old T. Mind you having seen Koscielny at Reading ?! Better luck next time Thomas. Seriously, I wonder if marking his big mate at Arsenal played on his mind. Unusually poor but has enough credit in the bank to escape too much criticism.

Santos 2. Wore the shirt, one mark. A couple of forward runs, another mark. Did you see anything else? If you think the mark is harsh you have sense of who we are , what we are and what we represent. We are Arsenal and Santos is not fit to wear the shirt of Hapgood, McNab, Sansom,Winterburn, etc, etc, Kieran get off that treatment table..NOW!

Arteta 7. Dedicated, serious pro doing his best. However, he is part of the imbalance in the side too. Not athletic or quick enough for the role, but hey that’s a bigger question.

Wilshere 5. Not helped by his manager in leaving him on when on a yellow card. That said, needs to grow up and not lunge in on opponents in frustration, this is not a first offence.

Cazorla 7. Lacked support around him. Not at his best either but with Jack and Diaby (or some other powerhouse if Abou can’t stay fit) he will be our midfield this season and next at least.

Ramsey 6. The Man City game was illusory. Without the drive of Diaby he cannot play in the position he did yesterday.

Giroud 5. Worst performance for the club so far. Previously supportive fans would have to have doubts after this. His whole game was off. But he had very few crosses to work with and as ever his attitude was good.

Podolski 4. On this showing Koln saw us coming, rubbed their hands with glee at the foolish money-bags Englanders and laughed all the way to the bank. Did so little I had forgotten he was playing until I remembered football was played with ELEVEN players.

Subs

Walcott. We will have to bite the striker bullet soon or get rid.

Arshavin. Is it a sign of desperation or that he really does appear rejuvenated that he now deserves some game time?
