Arsenal travel to Germany on Tuesday to play Schalke in the fourth game of this seasons Champions League campaign, and boss Arsene Wenger has named his squad for the tie.

The Gunners currently sit second in Group B after a shock 2-0 defeat at the Emirates to the Bundesliga club last time out and another loss tomorrow could leave us with it all to do to qualify for the knockout stages.

Midfielder Aaron Ramsey will not travel after picking up a groin injury during the second half of Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford. Johan Djourou has replaced the Welshman in the squad.

The only other change from Saturday’s squad is goalkeeper James Shea replacing the ineligible Damian Martinez. Here is the official 18-man squad announced on Arsenal.com earlier:

Vito Mannone
James Shea
Bacary Sagna
Thomas Vermaelen
Mikel Arteta
Johan Djourou
Per Mertesacker
Laurent Koscielny
Jack Wilshere
Olivier Giroud
Santi Cazorla
Andre Santos
Lukas Podolski
Theo Walcott
Andrey Arshavin
Carl Jenkinson
Francis Coquelin
Marouane Chamakh

So, rather worryingly it’s a weaker squad than the one that was played off the park by United at the weekend. Unfortunately, still no Gibbs, Szczesny or Chamberlain who are all thought to be close to a first team comeback.

I’ll have my match preview with predicted line-up and final score published later on tonight, but several players will have to seriously up their game if we’re to get a result in Germany, that’s for sure.
