Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw by Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon leaving them three points off the pace in the Premier League title race. John Terry put the home side ahead in the first half before Luis Suarez got the equaliser midway through the second period. Here are player ratings from the game:

Chelsea Ratings

Cech – 7 – Wasn’t tested too much throughout the game but did everything expected of him when called upon. Decent save late on to deny Enrique. Could do nothing about the goal.

Azpilicueta – 7 – Full of running down the right hand side and linked up well with Mata. Kept Liverpool’s attacking threat down his flank relatively quiet.

Ivanovic – 6.5 – Solid in the middle of defence alongside Terry and later Cahill.

Terry – 7 – Superb header for the goal but was forced off early with a nasty looking knee injury.

Bertrand – 6.5 – Filled Cole’s shoes adequately once again. Wasn’t troubled too much and handled the threat of Johnson well.

Mikel – 5 – Sloppy in possession and gave away too many cheap free-kicks. Lost Carragher for the Liverpool goal and fluffed a chance to get a shot away when well positioned in the box.

Ramires – 6 – Hard working as ever in midfield but will need to shoulder some of the blame for the Suarez equaliser after playing the Uruguayan onside and left him free to head home.

Oscar – 5.5 – Didn’t get in the game as much as he’d have liked and missed a great chance to get on the score-sheet early on, chipping over the bar. Subbed.

Mata – 8 – Chelsea’s creative hub once again. Always looked dangerous on the ball but wasted a golden chance to double the Blues lead in the first half but blasted over when clean through. Excellent corner to find Terry for the opener.

Hazard – 7 – Showed his quality in patches and worried the Reds back line. Missed a great chance to put the hosts 2-up but put his volley wide.

Torres – 5 – Quiet game against his former side. Closest he came was a near post header that was well saved by Jones. Subbed with 10 minutes to go.

Subs:

Cahill – 6 – Looked solid enough after replacing Terry.

Moses – 5 – Made little impact on the game after coming on for the last 15 minutes.

Sturridge – N/A – Little time to affect the game.

Liverpool Ratings

Jones – 7 – Good display by the Liverpool No.2. Nice save to deny Torres and reliable when called upon. Could do little about the Terry header.

Johnson – 6 – Got forward whenever he could but poor final ball cost him on more than one occasion.

Enrique – 6 – Powerful down the left flank but kept finding himself offside.Went close to stealing a late winner.

Agger – 6 – Lost Terry for the goal and didn’t look too comfortable playing in a back five.

Carragher – 7 – Lovely assist for the equaliser and was a rock at the back for the visitors. Showed he still has something to offer the first team.

Wisdom – 6.5 – Played well in the back five during the first half but looked less comfortable when shifted to right back in the second period.

Sahin – 6 – Neat in possession as always but didn’t create enough. Subbed in the second half as Liverpool added more attacking verve in search of the equaliser.

Gerrard – 6.5 – Required to do more defensive work than dictating play in the final third, but still a hard-working shift from the captain.

Allen – 6 – Lost possession more than we’re used to seeing from the Welshman.

Sterling – 6.5 – Didn’t look happy playing centrally in the first half but saw more of the ball and looked lively on the wing in the second period.

Suárez – 7.5 – Wasn’t hugely in the game but popped up to head home an important equaliser. Wasted a great chance to get a winner after allowing Cech to tackle him as he burst through on goal.

Subs:

Suso – 6 – His introduction added some creativity and energy to Liverpool’s play.
