Long-term Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United target Christian Eriksen has snubbed Ajax’s attempts to discuss a new contract and confirmed he want’s a new challenge at some point in his career, according to Sky Sports News.
The 20-year-old has become one of Europe’s most sought-after youngsters after breaking into the Ajax side over two years ago. He has gone on to make 128 appearances for the Dutch giants, scoring 22 goals and raking up an incredible 43 assists during his time at the club.
The Danish international has attracted interest from clubs throughout Europe and has been strongly linked with Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United in the past. While he has so far resisted the opportunity to make a big-money move, Eriksen may soon be on his way after throwing his future into doubt.
Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars has revealed the young midfielder has turned down the chance to sign a new deal with the club.
“We want Christian to sign a new deal, but he is not interested,”
“We do have talks planned with him and his agent, so we will have to see what happens in December.”
Overmars is quoted as saying by Sky Sports
Eriksen’s current contract expires in 18 months time and while he’s admitted he’s happy in Amsterdam, he confirmed he will be seeking a new challenge at some point.
“I am under contract and happy at Ajax. I appreciate the fact that they want to extend my deal, but I also feel that at some point I will want to try something new.
“My agent is in contact with the club and I have not accepted or declined anything yet.”

The doubts over Eriksen’s long-term future at Ajax will alert Liverpool, Man City and Man Utd and the trio will no doubt be keeping a close eye on how things develop over the coming months.
If the player refuses to sign a new deal Ajax may decide to cash in either in January or more likely at the end of the season when he’ll only have 12 months left on his current contract.
