Schwarzer hands in transfer request to force Arsenal move

fulham goal keeper mark-schwarzer arsenal transfer target

Written by Fab4.

Arsenal could be set to end their long-running search for a goalkeeper after Mark Schwarzer handed in a transfer request, according to the Sun.

The report claims Schwarzer has handed the request to new Fulham boss Mark Hughes in order to force a move to the Gunners, who had a £2m bid turned down for the Australian stopper before the World Cup.

However, Hughes isn’t prepared to let his No.1 go without a fight and will either turn down the request or demand £4m for Schwarzer’ services.

Although the Sun is hardly the most reliable of sources, it’s believable that Schwarzer would hand in a transfer request in order to play Champions League football for Arsenal. He is 37-years-old and could feel this is his last chance to play at the very top level.

He couldn’t be considered a long-term solution to our goalkeeping situation, but Schwarzer would be a decent stop-gap until Sczesny is ready to take over first team duties. I fully expect this transfer to go through before the window slams shut.

I agree with fu. Wenger should chase a young guy like Shay Given, aged 34.

to be honest i wouldn’t mind Schwarzer. He experienced and knows the premier league well and a better goalie than Flapianski and Almunia.

r u crazy?! look at the options that we have in goal, then think if we would be stronger or weaker with an experienced, commanding goalie between the sticks. i hope he does join us, if anything just to spare every arsenal fans disappointment at fabiansky being given number one!!!

I honestly think Schwarzer will help out. Guys dont forget that we have two wonderful young goalkeepers that just need to be mentored by the likes of Schwarzer. If we bring in someone young, then we would leave our own young keepers with no option but to look for another team or remain number 2 for the better part of their goal keeping career.

MAN CITY WILL NOT SELL TO ARSENAL!!!!! people need to stop going on about given and hart – they will only sell if the offer is over 10 million – if wenger truely believes in szcenczy then he will sign schwarzer who is an excellent keeper – and we will defo get our money worths out of him – he is the sort of keeper that could earn us those extra 10 points and not 10 points dropped by manuel the waitor and not so fab-ianski in goal!!!!

    c’mon wenger

the talk is of a loan deal, not a transfer. wenger wouldn’t pay the amount for given anyway. £3m seems to be his limit!!

really, schwarzer is wat we need at the moment, its high time we started actin 4 now and he would be the sort of keeper ie a veteran with loads of experience that knows what the premiership is all about and also someone our young guns can emulate and learn a lot from……..wenger please bring in to our folds

People.really.stop dreaming of Given or Hart. There is no chance of City selling to us at any reasonable price, even if one of them demands a move
