Man Utd vs QPR Preview: Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted Score

Man Utd play Queens Park Rangers on Saturday looking to keep the pressure on Man City. Here’s a preview with team news, likely line-ups and predicted score.

Old Trafford

Manchester United welcome Queens Park Rangers to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon just 24 hours after Mark Hughes was sacked by the Londoners.

Former United striker Hughes was dismissed on Friday morning after failing to win a league game this season. Defeat to Southampton at Loftus Road last Saturday was the final straw with Rangers currently sitting bottom of the Premier League and five points from safety.

Mark Bowen and Eddie Niedzwiecki will be in caretaker charge against United with the rumour mills suggesting former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is in line to replace Hughes.

United go into the game in second, one point behind Manchester City who play Chelsea on Sunday, so Sir Alex Ferguson will be hoping to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat to Norwich and put the pressure on their rivals with a win on Saturday.

Team News

Wayne Rooney is available again after recovering from tonsillitis while Chris Smalling is also likely to play despite picking up a knock last time out.

However, Jonny Evans is unlikely to feature despite returning to training on Friday. Ferguson was able to rest several key men for their midweek trip to Turkey in the Champions League, so the likes of Patrice Evra, Robin van Persie, Antonio Valencia and Rio Ferdinand should come straight back in.

QPR welcome back Stephane M’Bia from suspension but he may have to make do with a place on the bench. United loanee Fabio is fit again after a hamstring strain but is ineligible against his parent club.

Jamie Mackie is also fit again after making a substitute appearance last weekend and Kieran Dyer should be on the bench following a calf injury.

Predicted Score

QPR arrive at Old Trafford bottom of the league having not won a game this season and are now without a manager. You’d be a fool to bet against a home win. Man Utd 3-0 QPR.
