Arsenal travel to Merseyside on Wednesday to play Everton at Goodison Park and boss Arsene Wenger has given an injury and team news update ahead of the game.

Wenger gave the latest on Theo Walcott, Jack Wilshere, Thomas Vermaelen and Tomas Rosicky as we try to bounce back from the weekend’s disappointing performance at Villa Park.

Walcott has missed the last two games with a shoulder injury picked up during the 5-2 win over Tottenham 10 days ago, but the attacker is back in contention for tomorrow nights game.

Wilshere was rested for Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Aston Villa after a ‘minor’ flare-up to his troublesome ankle but Arsene has confirmed the midfielder will start at Goodison and Vermaelen is also back after also being rested at the weekend.

The boss also confirmed that Rosicky is back in full training and is closing in on making his first appearance of the season. He will be given a run-out for the under-21’s before being considered for first team duties. Speaking to Arsenal.com, Wenger said:

on the latest situation…

From [the] Aston Villa [game], everybody got through the game well. The player who will come back is Walcott, who is fit again. [Wilshere and Vermaelen] are alright.

on Tomas Rosicky…

Rosicky is back in the [training] squad, not quite match fit but in full training. He needs a game or two in the reserve [under-21] team. He has not played for six months but he is fit.

It’s a big boost to have Walcott back, we’ve definitely missed his pace and movement over the past couple of games. Hopefully he’ll start against the Toffees. With Wilshere and Vermaelen also back, we have something close to our strongest eleven. Some will argue that Diaby may be considered for the midfield if fit, but we can’t complain about injuries anymore. The team that plays against Everton is more than capable of getting three points, let’s just hope the lads put in a more positive display than they did against Villa.
