Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed he’s in the market for new talent this January, but is only interested in signing ‘top, top, top’ players.

We’ve endured our worst start league for over 30 years and understandably many Gooners have been calling for the boss to strengthen the squad when the window re-opens in January.

Well the good news is that Wenger has confirmed he’ll be in the market this winter, but the bad news is he’s given us the “top, top, top” player line he’s given us many times before.  Speaking to Arsenal.com, Arsene said:

“We have a good squad, I believe that these players have a fantastic attitude,” he said. “They deserve success and they will have success.

“We will be on the market if we find the real top, top, top player, we will be on the market. We have no fixed number, we look just at quality.”

Looking to add quality players is great, but when he’s signed the likes of Chamakh, Squillaci and Santos in recent transfer windows, you begin to wonder what Arsene considers a ‘top, top, top’ players these days.

A striker and a defensive midfielder is the minimum I’d like to see come in. Many names have been linked but the two stand-out forwards who seem to be available are Llorente and Huntelaar. Either would be an excellent signing and improve our striking options no end, and even Arsene must consider them as ‘top’ quality?!

Huntelaar will instantly tick all of the boxes for Wenger, with the added bonus he can be obtained for under £10 mill. Ever the bargain hunter, I think AW will opt for Hunt over Llorente purely on cost grounds alone.
I think we might try to make a bit of a splash with signing Zaha from The Seagulls.

Same old line. Come Feb 01 2013 he will say he didnt find ‘Top’ Talent, or they were over priced.

    anyway i hope he buys.

We need a more technical, quick forward to compliment Giroud. Both Llorente and Huntelaar are finishers and target men. I think those links are from the previous transfer window when Wenger was weighing up his options for a lone striker.

I think we should sign willian, bender and I don’t think we need another target man/poacher, we have giroud as our target man/poacher. I think we sign cavani as our marquee signing, he’s fast, powerful and can finish. I don’t think we should sign damaio as he plays in the brazilian league, which isn’t a patch on the prem.

Wenger you are just trying our patience and now it is running out alas! We are playing fifa manager now and we know how we feel whenever we loss , it seems you don’t know what we are passing tru as a fan of this noble club . Now let me advice you if you can read this please for God sake resign and if you think you can redeem yourself and image odun this great club try and sign this players (1) Edison Cavani , Lewadosky , macus reus , huntellar , Adrian Lopez and you can consider the fans options pick 1 from that list (2) Marune Felani , wanyama, M’villa ,Erickson from ajax, (3) a good defender . Please look into all this and make your choice. Up gunners

I could like AW to attempt Karim Benzema if Madrid take there targeted man Falcao a finisher he wont regreat.

Buy himself “out” instead, please AW. Every year same old crap and like previous post were saying if coming no signing in the winter then obviously his next statement will be no top striker or he will use his well known tagline ” NO PANIC” our bunch of players is already top class and we don’t need anyone..wait and see

This is what we are saying, twisting a well intentioned statement by Wenger to mean a different thing. Some contributors instead of responding to the write up are ceasing the opportunity to insult the manager. The writer himself betrayed his bias by thinking that the top top players means the likes of Charmach and Squilacci. This is very pathetic. When will people learn to discuss issues and not personalities? Apart from Sir Alex Ferguson, there is no manager again in the EPL than can be said to be better than Wenger. Even the Almighty Mourinho cannot perform without array of superstars at his disposal even at that, his methodology has lost its magic. I believe Wenger will do what is best for the club and I am ready to give him the chance to fix the club. Remember, somebody bought a player at £50m without commensurable performance yet the person was not crucified.

    @oguntuase
why are you dancing attendance upon the boss? are you getting paid? else, how do you expect us to react on such lackluster performance year after year? don’t we have a right to criticize? if you knew what supporters deserve you wouldn’t behave as the boss. everytime the questions come out of fan, there is nothin coming out of the board and the manager. to add an insult to injury you guys are herding us like animal by saying”in wenger we trust” but we don’t!!
what is with you? are a kind of vouyer? whom are you supporting as a fan?
people like me are becoming a desert lion roaring alone. please give yourself a chance to realize wenger is not omnipotent over our beloved club.

I think Wagner should buy a very good left back, forward and keeper . Take falcao or huntalar. Spend the money.
