A Letter to Arsene Wenger…

Written by guest blog armourysquare

Dear Mr. Wenger,

If chance ever provides me and you meeting together there is something I would wish to give you so badly, that my heart craves for. A nice hard sucker punch right on your face. You are manager of Arsenal Football Club and have been one of the most successful managers for this club. But personally, I really don’t think you give a damn for “our” club. Why? Well simply because you are the biggest liar on the planet and I applaud the way you can blatantly lie on T.V. This is what you said on 18th April, 2010.Go check it, its on

“I think we can overcome [Chelsea],” he said. “For a while we were not investing maybe because we had built the stadium but I think our financial situation is now becoming much stronger and we will be capable to buy the players we need to buy.”

“No we cannot [compete] on wages with Chelsea. That is simple. I believe what is not normal is not our wage bill but their wage bill because that should not be allowed.

“However they cannot all go to Chelsea, it is as simple as that. There are top players outside of the ones Chelsea want to buy who are good enough for us.”

The Barclays Premier League season has ended for about 3 months now. You promised you would “strengthen” the squad this summer. Lets take a look of what you have done:

1. You release 3 defenders – Sol Campbell, William Galls and Mikael Silvestre .

2. You get 1 – Laurient Koscielny.

3. We currently have 3 defenders, ( I am talking only about CB’s) – Thomas Vermaelen, Johann Djourou and Laurient Koscielny.

4. In general we require 5 defenders, but because you are such a miser, lets say we require 4.

So, according to maths, originally we have 6 ( including our latest summer signing ), but now we have : 6 – 3 = 3.

Let me spell this out for you ” T-H-R-E-E “, thus we require 1 more CB. But no, you will not buy because we don’t have finanaces, our stadium is too small to accomodate 1 more defender…”oh the horror.”

Also, I have noticed that the newspapers link everybody to our club. This is a request to them, the only way we will believe you is that if this french-man tells us that ” we are interested and lets see what happens”. So, please don’t report to us a host of players linked as it always gets our hopes up and when we end up not signing anyone we all get pissed-off.

Then there is the goal-keeper, our beloved shot-stopper. Yes, I know you love him and want to give the “dynamic-duo” chances, but give them chances in another club you manage. Yes, go to another club, pay Arsenal and sign these two guys and have all the fun you want. We are sick and tired of watching their “play” over and over on “Youtubes funniest football videos.”

You go on saying these 2 words “I believe”, but let me ask you something, what do you believe in? That our team, sorry let me correct myself…our defense is good enough to tackle attacks of upgraded Manchester City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spuds…you are probably dreaming…

You probably think that one day “when” you win a trophy for Arsenal, you will come and tell all the Arsenal fans and media, “look I was right and you all were wrong..”. But trust me that day will only come when the sun stops shining and the earth starts shining! The reason for our club not doing so well is simple – its your ego, you think you are always right. Guess what? You’re not. 47 pounds for 1 match ticket, so logically an Arsenal fan will spend (only for home-games) 19×47=893 pounds each season to watch “beautiful football”…wonderful.

Reports have recently emerged that Shay Given is ready to leave Manchester City….and yet I have not seen any transfer movement on our keeper issue. Are you telling me that you are willing to spend 2 ml pounds on Mark Schwarzer but can’t spend 4 ml more and get a better quality keeper in Shay Given? Lets have a look at what you said when you were asked about transfers..( your mortal enemy ! )

Speaking in his first pre-game press conference of the season, the Arsenal coach stressed that his only focus at the moment was selecting a goalkeeper from within his current squad for the opening game against Liverpool.

“No,” was the Frenchman’s simple response when it was put to him that bids could be placed for Given and Hart.

“No.No,” he continued when asked a second and third time, before stressing, “I just told you that transfers are my secondary worry; my only focus is to get the team ready to start on Sunday. We do not need to buy to play well on Sunday. We have quite a strong squad.

Look man, we all are scared about Liverpool. They have a good team, they have made good transfers. All you have done is that you have brought in another striker and a defender. You have not addressed the areas in which we were weak, then when we won’t win anything, you will probably say “next season we will contest, blah blah…”, and we will find an excuse to give ourselves as to why we did not win anything for the 6th year in a row. Success is equivalent to titles, not about building your team and showing “beautiful football” to the world. A top team is one which can do both- FC Barcelona, Manchester United etc but somehow I don’t see our names in that list…

Before I end my letter let me tell you something. I love my club, and I do not want to see it get beaten down so badly even though it is financially completely stable. My request to you is that, if you have any doubts that you will not be able to give us a trophy this year, please give in your resignation to the board. There is still time and a new manager can be appointed. We as Arsenal fans can never doubt what a man like you has done for the club so far as the debts are concerned. But at the end of the day, as fans, we want trophies, not balanced books. So please check yourself before you start managing this season, not only in your hands do you manage a top-class club but also in your hands rests the happiness of a million Gooners around the globe…

Are you kidding me? that article was spot on. yes he didnt actually talk about how much wenger has done for the club which in all fairness to arsene, hes dont a lot but apart from that, we are a yo yo club now. can you imagine chalsea coming from nowhere and now claim to be a bigger club than we are??! its a shame and as a massive Arsenal fan and trust me i love the club just as much if not more than you do but i dont think the board and wenger are interested in winning trophies anymore and thats a shame. it isnt rocket science to realise that we are just a world class goal keeper, two solid central defenders and the right tactical knowhow shy of dominating not just in england but in europe so stop all that talk ot g osupport someone else or rubbish like that when people let their frustrations out. you may be like the board and wenger and have no ambitions but the rest of us and i mean the rest of us that really loves the club wanna see us win something atleast. yes we’ve balanced the books but that doesnt get you trophies. its ridiculous how some of you my fellow arsenal fans seem to think youre more of a fan than the next man cos youre just like the board, very unambitious!!! its pathetic! we are a massive club and we HAVE to win win and win PERIOD!!

he said he will sign a new cb by the end of the transfer window when other clubs drop their prices..

    • Michael carter

      August 16, 2010 at 3:12 pm

yeah but he wont. he’s been saying that every season or summer, we’ll try and do something bring in someone before the end of the window then a week or two to the close of the transfer window he goes on about how “the main aim is to focus on the players i have and not the secondary of what happens outside” its all part of his scheme. i tell you he should have been a politician. i dont know why people seem to like wenger more than they did tony blair cos they are just about the same from the same umbrella albeit from different countries and different occupations! i still love him but wish he could put his ego to one side and actually do what i right for the club to be successful and i dont just mean playing “pretty” football but actually win something and not what he thinks is good for the club cos it obviously hasnt worked for the past 5 to 6 years now!!

So Wenger has never won any trophies for Arsenal? He has only managed to balance the books year in and year out? When did you start supporting Arsenal? Or maybe a better question, when were you born? Muppet!!!

    • Michael carter

      August 16, 2010 at 3:17 pm

he’s no muppet he only wants to see us win again. actually is wanting your club to win trophies such a bad thing that you all seem to have a go at people that complain when we dont win anything? what da hell is wrong with you people?? yes there were days when we didnt win anything for years and years but thats back in the days. now we are a much bigger and better club so it shouldnt even be brought into question at all. we should let the past go and focus on what and how we’re gonna win things and not how we didnt win anything 100 years ago when you were born. sick of fans like you. yes we are happy with the financial state of the club but we arent happy with the lack of trophies. you dont get given trophies for having a balanced bank do you? i appreciate what hes done for arsenal but he can do sooooo much more. Arsene is like his team, they dont really know how good they are or can be!!

      August 16, 2010 at 7:49 pm

When did the author say never, i read “none for the 6th year running”. Judging by the fact that you still can’t read competently…you were born way after him, atleast the guy can write.

  4. benji-mon

    August 15, 2010 at 1:44 pm

    to the author.

you seem to be forgetting all the great things wenger has done for this club and the great things he continues to do.

Wenger has his faults, but so what? he has a hell of a lot more positives than negatives.

The bare facts are that he has maintained arsenal football club as a top club both domestically and in europe for the past ten years and counting; on a considerably lower budget than any of the other teams.

You have no idea of the finances of the world and fottballing market, or the club; neither does me and most other gooners.

Wenger has a degree in economics and is working hard to achieve footballing success with economic stability.

you, are just an idiot typical “football fan” with no real understanding. “buy this player for 20 mil, buy that player for 25 mil” that will make us the best.

one more thing to the author. Which manager would you bring in to manage arsenal instead of wenger?

    • Michael carter

      August 16, 2010 at 3:20 pm

    • Guy15

      August 16, 2010 at 7:22 pm

Manager……Guus Hiddink, Avran Grant…..just a few to name…not to mention other manager from other leagues who’d do a fine job.
BTW, we don’t need an economist, we need a proper manager who can make proper and right decisions at the right time related only to the football on and off the pitch. It doesn’t take a degree to do what finances he’s doing.

You say that Wenger has a hell of a lot more positives than negatives…well I haven’t seen them in a while now. 4 to 5 yrs to be precise.

After reading your article this morning and being initially dumbfounded at just how ignorant and shortsighted it was, I decided to re-read it this afternoon and see if I’d just over-reacted…

Much to my dismay it seems that I hadn’t – in fact reading it a second time annoyed me even more than it had originally. Frankly I think your article is an utter embarassment to both the club and the vast majority of supporters. You completely fail to realise what a privileged position you are in as a fan of such a great club. 99% of clubs would trade places with us in an instant for our consistency over the last 15 years – we have no divine right to win a trophy, and the fact we have a board and manager that are attempting to do so in the right way when all of the other major teams are living off hand-outs should be commended.

It’s high time that Arsene and the board were thanked for steering the club through such changing and challenging times over the last few years, but instead we get drivel like this from armchair critics with no understanding of how to run a club save from playing FM. I’m embarrased to say that I support the same club as you.

I think if you read my comment again you’ll see that I’m not agreeing with you at all… However I have read many of your replies to other posters and it seems to me you are most likely a teenage WUM with a limited understanding of concepts such as long-term planning (or the Caps key). You fail to realise that these ARE the glory days… go back 30 years and we weren’t competing for anything at all. I’ll say it again, we have no divine right to trophies, so stop acting as if we do.

        • Guy15

          August 16, 2010 at 7:32 pm

Are you the only one on this forum apart from the author ? or is it you’r glorified head thats in the way. The guy was replying to “stew”. It’s not about divine right, it’s the misuse of resources. A team like Stoke city can’t hope to win the league..NO..It’s not divine intervention..but the lack of quality in the players, quantity of funds and a manager whose looking to survive rather than win. But Arsenal have Quality, Quantity in abundance managed by someone whose more than capable of winning the league. But if he still can’t win anything for 5 yrs, then something’s wrong.

    • Michael carter

      August 16, 2010 at 3:29 pm

thank you we have no divine right to win a trophy but lets not fool ourselves, we are soo annoyingly close every year and its tiring being so close every year as that has turned us to a yo yo club like it or not! im sure you’ll agree with me when i say we are close almost every year so why doesnt he go out and sort it out so we can BE THERE instead of being close all the time? it has nothing to do with hating arsene of the board. its their ego and gambling that pisses most of us off. hes talking about not wanting to gamble of wojeck haha what an irony as he already does that anyway by not having the right balance. we have more attacking players than defenders and we seem to suffer more defensively so why hasnt he sorted that out now? any attacking player that comes on the market and of course relatively cheap has more chances of coming to my beloved Arsenal than the defenders we really really desperately need. how do explain that?

    Wenger has given us
    – World class training ground
    – World class stadium
    – World class academy
    – 2 doubles
    – 1 unbeaten season
    – 3 league titles
    – 4 FA Cups
    – 13 consecutive seasons in champions league
    – 3 1st places, 6 2nd places, 2 3rd places, 2 4th places
    – Champions league runner up, 1 semi, 2 quarter finals
    – Fantastic football
The least you could demand from a so called supporter is some respect.

      August 15, 2010 at 8:10 pm

what has he given the club for the last 5 yrs….I respect him for the financial situatioon and nobody in the epl is better than him in that case, but in trophies….he has not deliverd, and a s a fan we require the latter a bit more, dont we…?

    • Michael carter

      August 16, 2010 at 3:36 pm

no actually he didnt give us that, Arsenal gave us that he was only involved in the decision making. he didnt do a roman and donate money to the club did he? so please dont go there. yes he and intelligent man he knew what he wanted as per training ground emirated stadium and all that but without the funds we wouldnt have got them and yes he helped getting the funds to the club but it didnt come out of his pocket so he didnt exactly “GIVE” us all that now did he? we respect him and no doubt he really does deserve it but what really annoys me is the fact that he doesnt know he can achieve soo much more. i honestly think hes a better manager than alex ferguson or mourinho but his ego wont make him get as much trophies if not more than those two. its sorto like comparing his schumacherness to ayton senna. if senna hadnt died when he did then i dont think we would have been talking about his schumacherness as much! yes wenger hasnt dies and thank Goodness but he can achieve more than those two with this team if only he helps them out. i mean even the players wanna see some experience come in the team.

I think Zain’s response was totally adequate, but I just want to add how sick I am of these faggots writing their “Dear Mr Wenger” posts. Seriously, you emotional little children need to calm down and realise the world doesnt revolve around you. If your happiness is so dependent on a group of people you don’t know spending millions of pounds buying players for a football team, just to make you content that the team could win a trophy, you really need help. Go and support chelsea/man utd/man city – it might be better for your mental state.

Who wrote this “letter”? It is obvious that you have no sense of history. I guess you want Arsene to spend money like Chelsea on Sheva, Barcelona on Chygrinskiy or Ibrahimovic, Liverpool on Pizzaro, etc. Moreover you do not respect age and wisdom.
The reality is you have options as to which club to support, if your support is based on how much money they spend in the transfer window.

    • Michael carter

      August 16, 2010 at 3:40 pm

Everybody knows wenger is a master at finding top players for cheap so nobody is asking him to go do a chelski man city or even man utd for the past 15 years or so. all we want is for him to work is undoubted magic and get in a quality CB or two and a goal keeper. given would be better as i dont really rate mark the aussie that much higher than almunia. id rather have wojeck (and i hope thats the way his name is spelt) than almunia or schwarzer even tho he has no experience. i’ll know yeah we are taking a gamble.

Your threat of physical abuse is unlawful and should be addressed by the Police and should be taken as a serious breach of law. 13. armourysquare

By the way, I hope you all saw arsenal’s match against Liverpool yesterday. I hope you saw the various flaws in Almunia’s “brilliant keeping”, his “spectacular” efforts at dealing with crosses and long balls. The entire team looked shaky and unsure. Once again Wenger’s decision to start Wilshere over Rosicky eludes me. We would have had a better chance of winning if rosicky and Van Persie had started. Eventually Liverpool were the ones who scored at both ends to keep things even. Wenger may have been “invincible” once. But that doesn’t matter much if you can’t keep it consistent. The past holds great importance but the present and the future holds much more. Our team has won nothing in the last 5 yrs, now that is a concern much greater than Wenger’s financials and you’re petty insults. You can keep gloating about what he has done in the past and keep shut or you can stand up and demand more from him for the good of the club. It’s you’re choice.

    @ fady
You have given me a list of Wenger’s Accomplishments and no doubt they are of great pride to every Gooner.
But why don’t you compare it to the resume of any other manager in the same league (class), Eg. Alex Ferguson and then tell me. By the way, qualifying for 13 consecutive seasons in the champion’s league and coming ” 3 1st places, 6 2nd places, 2 3rd places, 2 4th places
    – Champions league runner up, 1 semi, 2 quarter finals” is excellent and I am proud of it. But if you’re satisfied with that and want nothing more (such as winning it this time). Then these 5 yrs must have been quite blissful for you, having no expectations.

    @ Alex
Who is “plastic ? Who is “too stupid” ? Chelsea and Man Utd. have been mopping up the premier league and FA cup for the last 5 yrs, being clear favourites over us, we are in the Champion’s league unchallenged, accompanied by our Goal keeper’s plague. Since you seem to be very happy with this, so this must be you’re “definition of a good manager”. It seems that you’re pea sized intellect still lives in the year 2003. You are too stupid even to reply to….i don’t know why i wrote this much to you, billy goat

Honestly you’re a numpty. Do all of us real fans a favour and take your negative short-termism down to WHL or Old Trafford where it belongs… Arsenal can do without ‘fans’ like you. Make up all the arguments you want, but I’d take consistency and steady growth over short-term success coupled with long-term failure any day…. Clearly this concept is too much for your brain to handle…

No one disputes that we need a new keeper and CB… even Wenger himself has said so – but the cards are in the hands of the selling clubs – why is this so difficult to understand? I’m guessing it all seems so easy to you when you’re playing Football Manager – aww bless…

As for other managers / clubs – if you’re so obsessed with their achievements in comparison to ours why not bugger off and support them instead… try not to let the door smack your backside on the way out. If not then try growing a pair and getting behind the club – including the manager… You really have no appreciation of just how lucky you are.

OHHH !!…I get it…. so we can’t compare Arsene to any other manager in the league and let me guess… Arsenal is the only team in the league and what is this league of you’rs called…”Van Persie’s thumb” !!!.

You think…that being an Arsenal fan is lucky ? are you even watching the premier league ? or any league at all ? The amount of pain a fan has to suffer seeing a team of treble winning quality lose out because of some shitty keeper and silly, miserly decisions. I hardly call that luck and if one still sticks by the team through all this, he is a true fan. You on the other hand are living in denial.
BTW, do you think that we can’t choose who we support ? That you bring luck into this ? So we become lucky if we choose to support Arsenal and all the other supporters of Club X,Y,Z can burn in hell for defying this rule of you’rs. OHHH!!!!…i forgot, Arsenal is the only team in you’re League, so yeah…you’r lucky.

    @ Van Persie’s Right foot.

So mate what’s you’re idea of long term, 15 yrs or 20 yrs ?
The guy who wrote this article is 100% right. Wenger needs to realize that Money isn’t every thing and that sometimes money has to be spent to win. 5 yrs is long enough a term. If Wenger is on the same page as you, then Arsenal will probably win something when he’s on his death bed and Van persie will have retired (Hopefully with both his “feet”).

no one is asking wenger to spend money on big shots.but spending money on a decent centre back and a world class goal keeper is necessary to have a fighting chance in the epl.i see this idiot “bio” talking about barca spending money on zlatan and chelsea on sheva, but you idiot do you see the fact that barca have spent money on players like david villa , our very own theirry henry, and if you dont know this then zlatan scored quite a few goals last season and they are the best in team in the world.yes they have home grown players but have invested in stars as well and that has payed off.and as for chelsea well you only see one transfer which did not deliver but you fail to overlook their other transfers like ashley cole, essien, drogba, etc who have all shined and won trophies. i as an arsenal fan am not asking wenger to buy players like messi or torres. asking for a decent defender and a world class keeper in my opinion isnt too much to ask for especially since now we are in a better and stronger financial position.

    What a negative minded bastard..
Arsenal have managed to qualify for the champions league
for the 10th time running despite d fact of financial issues arisen by the building of new stadium.
AND To manage with so little amount of money and achieve this fantastic success is only WENGER’s CUP OF TEA .. and believe me no 1 could have ever managed the team better than he did.. not even fergusen my dear friend …That’s y he has got a new extension from the BOD’s .
So if you want a better manager to replace WENGER..

are you blind or something or are your just stupid. i admit this article might be a bit aggressive but it just shows the frustration of arsenal fans. no one denies what arsene has done for the club. but the point of this letter is not what he has or has not done its what he not doing right now and that is not buying a world class keeper and another good defender for backup. so why dont you open your eyes and see what this guy wants wenger to do. its a fact that if he doesnt buy a good keeper arsenal are not going to be tittle contenders and just being in the champions league and getting thumped by other teams like man u and barca isnt really something to be proud of. he has done a good job or keeping top four status but arsenal shouldnt be in tournaments just for the heck of it. they should be in it to win it and with a good keeper they can.

Listen mate, there’s no reason to bring out the abuses. you’d be smart to keep you’r arguments free of such abuses, it’ll only get you banned.
“FANTASTIC SUCCESS”……What success ? In the last 6 yrs Does he have a shred of proof to show his success, a single trophy to occupy his shelf. NO, I don’t know about you’re definition of success, but my definition of success is winning at all costs and I guess the Premier League agrees with me on that one as runners up aren’t winners it’s those who hold the trophies who achieve fantastic success and are called winners.

So what if he’s qualified for the Champion’s league 10 times, in the last 6yrs they have been walked all over by chelsea, Man Utd. and have been obliterated by the likes of Barcelona. Teams like Celtic, Sevilla and Villareal have also qualified a number of times but none of there leagues or fans think they’ve achieved FANTASTIC SUCCESS. But as some of you people seem happy with qualifications and runners up, you have achieved FANTASTIC SUCCESS !!!

The only reason he’s got an extension is because of his excellent financial skills and his eye for spotting talent in kids.

Why don’t you find you’r self another planet where the guy who wins nothing achieves FANTASTIC SUCCESS.

Here’s a real winners story, Avran Grant was put in charge of Portsmouth FC who were already heading for relegations with hardly any wins and a goal difference that was well into the negatives. The squad was not just mentally broken but was physically plagued with injuries. Avran Grant steered his make shift team towards the finals of the FA cup and made them win it !! against a tottenham side who had just left Chelsea and Man city shocked in their wake. Now thats FANTASTIC SUCCESS !!

Avran Grant managed a club which was doomed but yet they had a trophy in their cabinet.

Arsenal is far far far from doomed and have a manager who is perhaps better, but yet have no trophy. That is my problem

Guy15 – You either weren’t watching the FA Cup final very closely and switched off after Pompey were awarded a penalty or you just have a very hazy memory. Avram Grant LOST the FA Cup final to Chelsea.

I’m not doing down the achievement of getting a club on it’s knees into a major cup final, but at least get these most basic facts right.

And I myself, even as a Liverpool fan, have been baffled by Wenger’s reluctance to bring in quality defensive players, but to suggest that Grant would do a better job for the same money is frankly laughable.

WOW… shallow a lot of people think? Calling a trophyless side successful? Or how would you describe the sudden rise of Chelsea now claiming to be a bigger club than arsenal…i just cant stop thiknking when people would stop living in past glories and face the present while looking forward at the future.
No doubt…Arsene Wenger has been fanastic has he reasembled a wonderful side full with the likes of Henry, Bergkamp, Ljunberg, Pires, Viera and even Toure….but when does he intend setting up this type of team agaikn when we nuture and then sell off in order to make profits.
Guess its high time we thought about winning trophies and stop playikng the beautiful game winning no trophies

jesus im sick of arsenal fans going nuts… look at the team we have we’ve taken 4 years to grow them rather than f*ck us money wise, also we have gotten know as a club were if ur young and what to play arsenal is the best club to do it we going to win everything at some point because of this, we cant expect to win every year and its not like we havent come close every year.

yes we need a keeper and as an irish man id love to see given come but its not going to happen he costs too much and wont be allowed by city( who is what we dont want to be)
we might also need another DM but not a star as song is our next paddy v
we have 2 new CB’s which are better than we lost

i belive in wenger he’s done so much for us even in the last 4 years. were not a big money team we work for what we get and then when we get it( and we will) it means more.
we watch great football every week
we have a team to be proud of
we will buy a GK and it doesnt matter who it is cos wenger will have picked him and its more about seeing a new face to belive in
so just stop b*tchin and belive like i do that we can win everything cos thats all us and our players need not sad fans who b*tch about everything

Squillaci now makes it four top grade CB’s. Do you and the cronies who chip in with chants of “liar”, “sack him” and the like now feel your lusts sated?

No doubt anything further that some fantasy football manager such as you feels is needed in your 2D world of football will only set you off once more.

    Grow up

Honestly, I think the author of this blog is correct. The author of this blog is a visionary. Unfortunately, too many fans of Arsenal are sheep. The vast majority of fans (lemmings) will follow Wenger over the cliff. If Arsenal was Nokia & Chelsea & Manchester United were Apple & Blackberry & the fans (leemings) were shareholders, would you lemmings NOT be giving Wenger a right old slagging off for failing to A) Stay competitive & most importantly B) Make you money. The answer is quite simple, of course you would. The issue at hand is quite simple. If you are a die hard with no sense of purpose or drive, then you are an idiot who serves no purpose. You cant even show your own kids something to believe in, because you have NO babckbone. Wenger got lucky early & therefore started to believe his own hype. Any analyst like the author of this blog has taken time out to research what is wrong with Arsenal. If you are too blind to do the same, then you are the kind of mug who’s wife will be banging your next door neighbour, & despite glaring warning signs like him stumbling out of your house in an obvious state of undress & your missus standing by the door with her hair, lipstick & clothes all over the place. Mugs like you are the reason that Arsenal are not going anywhere. Too scared of your own shadow to make noise in case Wenger jumps ship. What a frail hollow boned muppet you are. What if a spurs fan with a grudge shot Wenger?. Would Arsenal be buried as a club alongsides him?. The answer is no. Arsenal existed long before him & will exist long after he has gone. Wenger is living in cloud cuckoo land. You fight fire with fire, not oxygen, but you mug punters cant see the woods for the trees. Wenger has not replaced Ian Wright. Here me out, before you spout uneducated drivel back. Ian Wright was an out & out poacher. The season that he left, we had an opportunity to get a young poacher. His name?. Jermaine Defoe. Where did he end up?. Tottenham. He is wasted at Spurs. How many titles could we have won with a poacher of his ability?. Untold. We had Henry, who is not a Wright, but was an artist. did we replace him?, of course we didnt. I once heard a comment from Nicklas “2 left feet” Bendtner that he should have been in the team before Henry?. I almost fell out of my chair laughing. He should have been sold ahead of Adebayor, who was the last decent threat we had. Van Persie is finished. Here me out. Van Persie is finished. He is injury prone & has been for years. A season is 38 games. We need a top gun for 38 games. Had a chaance to get back Anelka when Henry was still here. Pause for one minute. Anelka introduced pace to the premiership. He is also Henry’s best friend. Henry himself urged Wenger to resign him. Anelka was looking for a top 4 team & would have come back. We have been linked with guys who would have got us a shed load of goals, but more importantly, the goals to beat the Chelseas, Man U’s, Man Citys, Real Madrids & Barcelonas of this world. Dont get me started on Drogba, because this is the very reason why we are being made to suffer at the hands of those who have slipped through the net. We let Ashley Cole go for the sake of 5k?. Fair enough, that wasnt Wengers decision, but has Cole looked back?. The titles speak for themselves. Gallas knew that Arsenal were sinking, hence his sit down. He left to come to Arsenal, thinking that it was the Arsenal of the untouchables, but this Arsenal is not a patch on them. Wiltord was never replaced. We let young guys like Julian Gray, Ashley Young, Jerome Thomas, Jermaine Pennant, David Bentley, Simpson etc go. Simpson could have been given a chance. All of them could have, & are english, which means that they would show far more passion than a foreigner who is clearly here for the money. We could have had Obafemi Martins, who would have bagged a hatful of goals for the money newcastle were asking, which is a paltry 13mil. failing that you need an absolute star like E’too. He would cost a bomb, but would automatically raise the whole team by there bootstraps, just like Henry did. Our team is extremely weak. We get done over too easily. Chelsea have shown the way forward & that is power & agility. Look at their team. Where is our Drogba?. Van Persie?. Injury prone. Bendtner?. 2 left feet. Vela?. Good & technical, but no power. Walcott?. Injury prone & indecisive in the box. Chamakh?. No power. Where is our Essien?. Denilson?. The most UNbrazilian midfielder if ever. Fabregas?. Technically gifted, but no brawn to match. Rosicky?. Injury prone & no brawn. Wilshere?. Jury cannot judge this young star yet, but obviously has no brawn. Diaby?, has the brawn but fails to use it. Song?. Has the brawn but no goals. Our back four?. Clichy?, no goals. stay behind on the training ground & get your Roberto Carlos tapes out. It’s about time all these wannabees actually startedtobees. Sagna?. Lots of running, no end product & no goals. Koscielny & Squillaci look like the latest versions of Senderos when the Drogbas come knocking. Vermaelen?. A star centre back with goals to boot. Arshavin?. A star, but needs the consistancy to get my vote. Djorou?. Doesnt get a look in so cant really judge. Goalkeepers?. Almunia & Fabianski are not world class keepers. Wenger is not ruthless with his choices & that is why Arsenal as a team is suffering. What would Ferguson have done with Arsenal?. A lot more than Wenger trust me. he comes from a tough background, where when the going gets tough, the tough get going. You dont win the amount of trophies he has without backbone. Graham would have done a great job here if he had been allowed to continue & that is not knocking Wengers achievements. If you dont agree with my view, then it is obviously your opinion, which you are entitled to, but also it is my opinion that in life you are an underachiever, which is why you would forgive your wife for continously banging all & sundry. Wake me from my grave when Arsenal win something other than the Emirates cup.
