Chelsea are keen on signing another striker in January and are interested in both Gonzalo Higuain and Radamel Falcao, according to the Daily Mail.

The report claims that Blues owner Roman Abramovich sent assistant, Marina Granovskaia, out to Madrid to discuss the availability of the strike pair in January, with Atletico Madrid hitman Falcao understood to be the European champions first choice.

Falcao is in red-hot form this season scoring 19 goals in just 15 games so far this campaign but the Mail claim the Columbian would cost around £48m and Chelsea have identified Argentina forward Higuain as another option should they fail to land Falcao.

The report also claims that Real are interested in signing Falcao so if the 26-year-old end’s up moving to the Bernabeu, a move for Higuian to Chelsea could then be on the cards.

Higuain has struggled with injury this season and has spent several weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring injury but has still managed to score 7 goals in 10 appearances for Madrid.

Chelsea’s current first choice striker Fernando Torres has recently found his goal-scoring touch again after a long barren spell in front of goal but the only other recognised front man Rafa Benitez can call upon is Daniel Sturridge, and the Mail claim he could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge.

So another front-man could be coming to west London next month and either Falcao or Higuain would be an excellent signing if Chelsea are able to land one of them.
