Liverpool and Tottenham have been alerted to the news that Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen has admitted he would be open to a switch to the Premier League, according to the Metro.

The report claims the Danish international has been linked with a move to England in the past but has always insisted he’s more likely to move to Italy or Spain when he does leave Holland.

The Metro suggest that Eriksen has once again been linked with a move to these shores in recent months with Liverpool and Tottenham named as potential destinations for the youngster, but it seems he may have opened the door to a potential switch after admitting the Premier League is now in his thoughts.

‘I think that my future lies in England, Italy or Spain. These are the competitions that I like,’  Eriksen is quoted as saying in the Metro.

‘I do not know what I will do in a few months’ time yet, but I want to leave my mark before moving on.’

The 20-year-old has become one of the most gifted players in the Eredivisie since breaking into the Ajax first team in 2010 aged just 17 and has gone on to make over 130 appearances for the club.

The Metro believe that when Eriksen does eventually leave Ajax – whom he’s contracted with until 2014 – he’s likely to cost at least £20m so he would represent a sizeable investment for whoever does end up buying him.

Liverpool could certain do with a player of his creative ability playing alongside Luis Suarez, while Eriksen could be seen as a replacement for Luka Modric at Spurs. Will either side make a move for the midfielder in the summer? Only time will tell but I’d love to see him come to the Premiership as he’s a real talent.
