Demba Ba Claims Arsenal Move Is A Long Way Off

Newcastle United striker Demba Ba claims a move to Arsenal is a long way off and admitted he’d be interested in signing for French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite the transfer window being closed, there is always transfer gossip doing the rounds in the papers and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news during the coming months. Today, Demba Ba talks about his future.

Newcastle United striker Demba Ba claims a move to Arsenal is a long way off and admitted he’d be interested in signing for Paris Saint-Germain, according to the Mirror.

The report claims the Senegalese striker – who has a £7m release clause in his contract – is interesting Gunners boss Arsene Wenger as we approach the opening of the January transfer window.

However, Ba has claimed any potential move to the Emirates is a ‘long way off’, saying his only focus is to help Newcastle out of the ‘mess’ they are currently in, while he also revealed he’d be keen to play for French giants Paris Saint-Germain – who he supported as a boy after growing up in the Paris suburb of Serves. Ba is quoted as saying by the Mirror:

“I watch PSG as a fan, a supporter. I have never hidden my attraction to the club and have been a supporter since I was little.

“Now, they are doing important things, big projects for the future, and of course it would please me to play in the colours of a team I support.

“But as I said about Arsenal, it’s something which is a long way off. For the moment, I am concentrating on what I have to do with my team – getting Newcastle out of the mess we are in.

“But it is true that PSG is a special club for me.”

I’ve said over the last few months that we need to sign a new striker in January and my preference would be to bring in someone with Premiership experience, and there aren’t many better about than Ba. Certainly not who’re available at £7m anyway.

So I hope we see some movement in this potential deal in the coming weeks as I think he’d be a great signing for Arsenal. He scored 16 goals last season for the Magpies and has 11 already in the league this term, so he’s a proven Premier League goal-scorer and would provide us with another option up front.

Newcastle appear to be planning for life without the player, with the Mirror claiming Alan Pardew is lining up Loic Remy as a replacement, so let’s not mess about and try and get a deal done early in the window.
