Lewandowsi Agrees Five-Year Deal Ahead Of £18m United Move

Man Utd have agreed an £18m fee with Borussia Dortmund for striker Robert Lewandowski with the player set to sign a five-year contract to move to Old Trafford

Despite the transfer window being closed, there is always transfer gossip doing the rounds in the papers and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news during the coming months. Today, Man Utd are linked with Robert Lewandowski.

Robert Lewandowski

Manchester United have agreed an £18m fee with Borussia Dortmund for striker Robert  Lewandowski with the player set to sign a five-year contract to move to Old Trafford in the summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old has 18 months left to run on his current contract and despite Dortmund’s insistence they are willing to let him run down his deal and let him leave on a free, the Mail claim the German’s have now agreed to sell the striker to long-term admirers United for £18m in the summer.

The report claims Lewandowski will sign a five-year contract – doubling his wages to £4.1m per year in the process – and he is understood to have already told friends he is on the move.

A striker appears to be the last thing United require at this time, with the Red Devils currently the Premier League top-scorers with 48 goals in 19 games. Many would say defence or even central midfield should be the priority for strengthening but Sir Alex Ferguson seems to want to add to his array of talent up front that includes Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck.

If the Mail’s report is accurate, and Lewandowski does move to Old Trafford in the summer, it will be interesting to see how Ferguson fits him in to his side. It could see the Pole play alongside Van Persie up front with Rooney deployed in a deeper role behind the two, which would create one of the most devastating strike-forces in Europe.

There is nothing official from either club as yet, so lets see how this story develops but the Mail seem confident this is all but a done-deal.
