Tottenham have joined Arsenal and Liverpool in showing an interest in Barcelona striker David Villa, according to the Daily Mail.

The report claims Arsenal have enquired about the Spaniard’s availability while Liverpool are also understood to have asked to take the 31-year-old on loan until the end of the season earlier this week.

The Mail claims that both clubs were told by Barca that Villa isn’t available on loan and the Catalans would only be interested in selling if an offer of around £16m was put on the table.

It appears Spurs have now joined their Premier League rivals in showing an interest in the former Valencia hitman, with the newspaper suggesting the north London outfit have also been informed they will need to sign the striker on a permanent basis if they want to have any chance of luring him away this month.

Villa joined Barcelona from Valencia in 2010 and was an important part of the first-team during his first year at the club, scoring 23 goals in 52 games as Pep Guardiola’s men won the La Liga title as well as winning the champions league after beating Manchester United in the final at Wembley.

However, his time at the Nou Camp has since been hampered by a broken leg suffered last season and he’s struggled to force his way back in to the first-team line-up since returning to fitness. While he may not be the player he was a couple of years ago, Villa is still a deadly finisher and would be an excellent addition to any squad so let’s hope we see him in the Premier League some time soon.
