Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham have been alerted to the news that Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo has expressed his desire to play in the Premier League, according to the Evening Standard.

The report claims the London trio have expressed an interest in the Spanish hitman – who’s valued at around £18m by Sevilla – but the Premier League giants may be able to pick him up for less due to the La Liga outfits financial problems.

Negredo joined Sevilla from Almeria in 2009 and has been a huge success, scoring 52 goals in 118 league appearances for the club. However, he has cast doubt over his future after admitting he would love to play in the Premier League and has spoken to the likes of Juan Mata and Fernando Torres about life in England.

“The Premier League is a great competition, I really like it and I think my style of football would be well-suited to it,” he said.

“There comes a time when a cycle comes to an end and I don’t know whether my time will be sooner or later. I haven’t thought about it a lot but I wouldn’t mind playing abroad.”

“I’ve spoken to the guys playing in England, mainly when we were together at Euro 2012 because we had a lot of free time,”

“I spoke to Mata and Torres and I know they really enjoy it.

“They have a different way of experiencing football over there compared with Spain. The players say it is easier to go out and about there. Here, it is quite difficult to leave the house but they say there is not as much scrutiny in England, and I like that.”

Negredo is quoted as saying by the Evening Standard

Negredo is a powerfully built 6ft 1inch striker so should have no problems adapting to the physical aspect of Premier League football, if he does end up coming to these shores.

He clearly admires English football but will Arsenal, Chelsea or Tottenham follow up their supposed interest with a firm offer? The Gunners need another striker in my opinion, despite Theo Walcott’s impressive start to life as a centre forward, and Tottenham could also do with another option up front – especially with Emmanuel Adebayor deciding to take part in the African Cup of Nations.

However, Chelsea have just bought Demba Ba so I don’t see the Blues buying another striker any time soon. He would certainly be a great addition but this is only paper-talk at this time and nothing official, so let’s see if things develop in the coming weeks.
