Yann M'Vila

Rennes have confirmed a mystery English club have made a late bid to try and hijack Rubin Kazan’s move to sign midfielder Yann M’Vila, according to Sky Sports News.

The report claims Queens Park Rangers have been in talks to try and sign the talented 22-year-old but have so far been unable to agree a deal. According to Sky Sports, M’Vila looked set for a move to Rubin Kazan and while Rennes feel a move to Russia is still likely, they confirmed an unnamed English club have made a late move to try and lure the France international to the Premier League.

Rennes general manager Pierre Dreossi revealed that the deal with Kazan is being held up over payment complications and claims an ‘interesting’ offer from England has come in.

“It is complicated, but we are still in negotiations,”

“It is not agreed yet, there are delays in payment, everything. I hope we will find a solution.

“Also a new offer came in from England and that could be interesting but Rubin Kazan is the priority, and we are negotiating.

“I expect the player to tell me he has reached an agreement with the club so we can finish the negotiations.” Dreossi is quoted as saying by Sky Sports

M’Vila has been long-touted for a move to the Premier League with Sky Sports suggesting the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham have also shown an interest in the powerful midfielder. But Dreossi refused to reveal the name of the mystery bidder, only confirming it’s not Newcastle and ruling QPR out of the running, but claims he wants the situation resolved by the weekend.

“QPR? I met with them for a long time [on Monday] but I think they will withdraw and I have not heard from them since.

“The new English club? This is not Newcastle – but no matter, M’Vila will leave and it will be finished before Saturday’s game.”

So who could the bid have come from? Arsenal are looking short in the defensive midfield area this season. Arsene Wenger didn’t replace Alex Song after selling him to Barcelona in the summer and Abou Diaby has continued to struggle with injury this season, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Gunners were the ones who’ve made a late move for M’Vila.

North London rivals Tottenham could also be in the market for defensive midfield reinforcements after Sandro was ruled out for the season with a knee injury, so again it would be no surprise if Andre Villas-Boas has decided to follow up his reported interest in the Rennes man.

Whoever it is, it seems the situation will become a lot clearer in the next few days with the French outfit wanting the transfer completed before the weekend, but i hope we see M’Vila come to England as he looks like his game couldn’t be well-suited to Premier League football.
