Napoli striker Edinson Cavani insists he knows nothing of reported interest from Arsenal but revealed a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona ‘stimulates the imagination’, according to Sky Sports News.

The powerful Uruguayan international has become one of the most feared strikers in Europe since joining Napoli from Palermo in 2010 after scoring an incredible 93 goals in 121 games in Italy.

His form hasn’t gone unnoticed and he has been linked with a move to Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester City as well as Spanish giants Real Madrid in the past.

Sky Sports claim Arsenal are the latest club to be linked with a move for the 25-year-old but Napoli are understood to be holding out for the players full release clause, believed to be worth around £54 million.

However, Cavani has insisted he knows nothing of the Gunners reported interest and while he claims to be fully committed to Napoli, he hinted he could be tempted with a move to either Real or Barcelona in the future.

“I know nothing about Arsenal’s interest, I have only heard about it now.

“My future? I have a contract for four years but in football you never know what to expect.

“Barcelona and Real Madrid are teams which stimulate the imagination. But I only think about the present.

“I’m living the highest point of my career with Napoli and I want to concentrate on fighting for the scudetto. Along with my team-mates, we want to give a dream for our people.” Cavani is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News

Cavani is surely one of Europe’s hottest properties right now and with a reported release clause of £54 million, I was never convinced of Arsenal’s supposed interest. When was the last time they targeted a truly world class player who would command this type of fee? The north Londoners would need to smash their current transfer record as well as fight off interest from some more financially powerful rivals, so I just can’t see it happening.

I would expect him to make a move in the next 6-18 months but I wouldn’t be betting my mortgage he’ll end up at the Emirates. A move to Chelsea, City, Real or Barca seems far more likely if you ask me.
