Despite the transfer window now being closed there will still be plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Luis Suarez insists he’s happy at Liverpool.

Luis Suarez has told Liverpoolfc.com that he’s ‘extremely happy’ at Anfield and wants to become an ‘honorary Scouser’ amid reports he’d be willing to consider a move to Bayern Munich this summer.

The Uruguayan hitman was quoted in the press this week as saying he would like the chance to speak with the German giants if they submit an offer for him at the end of the season.

However, the 26-year-old has now insisted he’s happy at Anfield and would like to go on to become a legend like Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher. When asked by the clubs official website if he’d like to become an ‘honorary Scoucer’, Suarez said:

“First and foremost, I’d love to be. From the point of view of being at such a big and successful club for so long like Steven and Carra, they are players who have given so much for the club, I’d love to be able to do the same.

“But when it comes to speaking, the accent and the way the Scousers talk, I think it’s going to be very difficult for me!”

Suarez also claims he’s enjoying every minute of his football with the Reds and is fulfilling a boyhood dream by playing for Liverpool, he continued:

“I always say the same thing, every kid or young player growing up dreams of playing here at Liverpool, and today, here I am, highly privileged doing just that.

“I enjoy every minute to the maximum because it’s a great opportunity that my life has presented me and for which I am very pleased.

“I’m here at a club where I always wanted to be and where I always wanted to play, and for that I’m extremely happy.”

The striker is enjoying his most prolific season in front of goal since moving to Anfield from Ajax two years ago and scored his 25th goal of the season against Zenit St Petersburg last week. Suarez is the first player to score more than 20 goals in a season since Fernando Torres in 2009/10 and it seems he’ll be looking to emulate his achievement again next season, despite the reports linking him with a move away from the club.

I don’t think it’s any coincidence this interview has been published just days after quotes emerge hinting Suarez would be open to a move away from Liverpool. Whether he’s been forced by the club to do the interview or not, the fact is Suarez does love Liverpool and will always give him all for the team, but how long will he settle for playing for a team not in the Champions League?
