Luis-Suarez-Liverpool

Liverpool have earmarked Italian striker Antonio Cassano as a potential replacement for Luis Suarez should the Uruguayan leave Anfield this summer, according to the Express.

The report claims the Merseysiders are expecting to receive a huge amount of interest in Suarez this summer with Pep Guardiola understood to have his eye on the 26-year-old when he takes over at Bayern Munich at the end of the season.

Suarez is enjoying his best season since moving to Anfield from Ajax in January 2011 and scored a stunning hat-trick to see-off Wigan on Monday night to take his tally to 21 goals in just 27 games so far this season.

Understandably, Liverpool will do all they can to hang on to their star man but the Express claim that Brendan Rodgers has identified Inter Milan forward Cassano as the ideal replacement should he be lured away from the club and Liverpool would be able to snap up the Italian international for far less than the reported £40m they’d receive from selling Suarez.

The newspaper reports that Cassano has had a training-ground bust-up with manager Andrea Stramaccioni and will now be sold in the summer, but Liverpool may face competition from the likes of Genoa and Napoli who’re also said to be interested in the forward.

Do you think Suarez will leave Liverpool this summer? Would Cassano be a suitable replacement if he does?
