The draw for the quarter finals of the Europa League has taken place on Friday lunchtime with the three Premier League representatives avoiding each other.

Tottenham Hotspur crept into the last eight after a thrilling clash with Italian giants Inter Milan that saw the Londoners throw away a three-goal first leg lead to be forced into extra-time, only for striker Emmanuel Adebayor to grab a priceless away goal with Spurs eventually progressing on the away goal rule after the tie ended 4-4 on aggregate. Andre Villas-Boas side have been awarded with an excellent draw against FC Basel with the first leg to be played at White Hart Lane.

European champions Chelsea were also made to work for their place in the quarter finals and needed two second-half goals from John Terry and Fernando Torres to edge past Steaua Bucharest 3-2 on aggregate at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night. The Blues have been drawn to play Russian outfit Ruban Kazan with the first leg to be played at the Bridge.

Newcastle are the third English side through after Pappis Cisse scored an injury-time winner to see off Anzhi and they will now have to navigate their way past Benfica for a place in the last four, and will play the first leg away from home.

The last tie in the round sees Fenerbache take on Lazio. All ties are due to be played on the 4th and 11th April.
