Chelsea midfielder Ramires has been forced to sit out of Brazil’s friendly against Italy this Thursday after picking up a thigh injury against West Ham last Sunday, according to Sky Sports News.

Ramires strained his right thigh muscle during the 2-0 over the Hammers at Stamford Bridge and has not travelled to Switzerland with the rest of the Brazil squad for the friendly in Geneva.

Instead, he will stay in London to receive treatment on the problem and will be assessed ahead of next weeks clash with Russia. The Brazilian Football Confederation have confirmed the news on their official website and Ramires must now be considered a doubt for the Samba Stars game against the Russians on the 25th March.

If the 25-year-old is also ruled out of that clash, he may also be a doubt for Chelsea’s trip to St Mary’s to face Southampton on the 30th March. Hopefully his injury is not too serious though as the last thing the Blues need is to start picking up injuries considering the packed fixture list they have coming up.
