Tottenham will join the chase for £8m French striker Loic Remy once Queens Park Rangers’ relegation from the Premier League is confirmed, according to the Guardian.

Remy signed for QPR from Marseille in January and has settled into Premier League life well, scoring 5 goals in 8 games so far including a stunning effort during a 1-1 draw with Wigan at the weekend.

However, his goals don’t look like they will be enough to keep the west Londoners in the top flight with Sunday’s stalemate against their relegation rivals keeping Harry Redknapp’s men seven points from safety with just six games remaining.

Reports on Monday suggested that Arsenal were set to make a move for the 25-year-old in the summer but the Guardian claim their north London rivals Tottenham are also in the hunt and will consider activating Remy’s £8m release clause if, as expected, QPR drop down to the Championship at the end of the season.

The newspaper reports that Spurs were keen on Remy during his time at Marseille but chairman Daniel Levy refused to pay their reported £15m asking price, but it seems they may be ready to renew their interest now he’ll be available for almost half that figure this summer.

Remy made his name at Marseille where he scored 39 goals in 95 appearances during a two-and-a-half year stint before sealing a move to England in January, and it seems he will be given the chance to remain in the Premier League if QPR go down, with Arsenal and Tottenham potential destinations.
