Borussia Dortmund have made the first move to try and sign Chelsea and Tottenham target Alvaro Negredo after tabling an €18m (£15.2) bid for the Sevilla striker

Alvaro-Negredo

Borussia Dortmund have made the first move to try and sign Chelsea and Tottenham target Alvaro Negredo after tabling an €18m (£15.2) bid for the Sevilla striker, according to the Express.

Negredo has consistently been one of the best strikers in La Liga since joining Sevilla from Almería in 2009, scoring an impressive 62 goals in 128 league appearances, including 17 so far this season.

It seems his impressive form hasn’t gone unnoticed here in England with the Express claiming both Chelsea and Tottenham have identified him as a potential summer target with the London duo understood to be on the look-out for striking reinforcements at the end of the season.

However, the pair face a fight to lure Negredo to the Premier League with the report suggesting German giants Borussia Dortmund have made an early move to secure his services after submitting an €18m (£15.2) offer, with boss Jurgen Klopp believed to have earmarked the Spanish hitman as the ideal replacement for Robert Lewandowski – who could be heading to Arsenal or Manchester United this summer.

Despite his recent return to goal-scoring form, doubts persist over the future of Fernando Torres at Stamford Bridge so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Blues enter the market for another striker this summer. Andre Villas-Boas has been hugely reliant on Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor at Spurs this season and neither have been able to find the back of the net on a regular basis, so another option in attack could be on the cards, and the pair could do a lot worse than look to Negredo.

The 27-year-old has averaged around a goal every other game his entire career and has also bagged 6 goals in 14 caps for Spain, so would certainly bring with him a real goal threat. But it seems the London pair will have to fend off serious competition from the Bundesliga if they’re to lure him to the Premier League at the end of the season.
