Arsenal Trophy-Hunt Given Major Boost

Arsenal’s search for a first trophy in five years became a lot easier today after Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City joined Tottenham in crashing out the Carling Cup in the 3rd round last night.

Chelsea were beaten in a 7-goal thriller at the bridge, Liverpool were beaten on penalties by Northampton, City lost 2-1 to West Brom and we all know what happened to the Spuds! With those four out of the way it leaves Arsenal and Man Utd as the favourites to lift the cup and this must be the best opportunity we have had to clinch some silverware in recent years.

Should Arsene Wenger now put more emphasis on the Calring Cup given the circumstances? Or should he revert back to playing the ‘kids’ and give them some experience? I think we should continue with a similar blend of first team squad members and youngsters as we did at Sh*te Hart Lane.

The Carling Cup is nobody’s first choice but with so many big guns out already, it would be negligible to dismiss it. Any trophy will relieve some pressure on Arsene and if it’s the Carling Cup that does it….fine by me. Who knows, it may be the start of a cheeky cup double…..or perhaps a treble???
