Higuain Set For €22m Arsenal Move After Agreeing Five-Year Deal

Gonzalo Higuain has agreed to join Arsenal on a five-year contract after the Gunners struck a €22m (£18.5m) deal with Real Madrid for the Argentinean hitman.

With the summer transfer window set to re-open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Gonzalo Higuain.

Gonzalo Higuain has agreed to join Arsenal on a five-year contract after the Gunners struck a €22m (£18.5m) deal with Real Madrid for the Argentinean hitman, according to Spanish outlet

The report claims north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham have been showing an interest in the 25-year-old, while Higuain’s agent has also held talks with Italian champions Juventus over a potential move to Serie A.

However, the striker is believed to have opted for a move to the Premier League and claim he has reached an agreement with Arsenal that will see him move to the Emirates on a five-year deal after a €22m (£18.5m) fee was agreed between the two clubs – but the transfer is dependent on Arsenal qualifying for the Champions League next season.

Tottenham are currently sitting in that all-important fourth spot after a 2-1 win over Stoke on Sunday but Arsenal will reclaim pole position with victory over Wigan on Tuesday night before heading into the final weekend. If Arsene Wenger’s men slip up, the report claims any move for Higuain will be off and he could end up joining Spurs instead.

The Argentina international joined Real Madrid from River Plate in 2007 and has scored an impressive 120 goals and provided 45 assists in 262 appearances. However, he’s lost his first team place to Karim Benzema this season and Madrid general manager, Jose Angel Sanchez, confirming recently that the striker will be sold at the end of the season.

‘In a great club like Real, we believe we need two number nines of a high level. We have Benzema and Higuain, Higuain will leave, Benzema will stay and two others will come.’ Sanchez is quoted as saying in the Daily Mail.

As Arsenal and Tottenham battle it out for that vital fourth spot it seems the team that comes out on top may not just qualify for the Champions League next season, they may also get their hands on one of the deadliest striker’s in the world.

It’s in Arsenal’s hands and if this report is accurate, they’re the one’s who’ve got an agreement in place to sign Higuain if all goes to plan. But failure to beat Wigan and Newcastle will not only see the Gunners finish fifth, it may also mean a top transfer target joins their bitter rivals as well.

Load of crap. Arsenal don’t sign players on pages of newspapers. If Arsenal are interested in a player, nobody hears about it till negotiations is complete. All these names being bandied about are first to make Arsenal look bad when they don’t sign these players eslecially if our season isn’t going well, it will look as if we are not ambitious, secondly all these bloggers are all fabricating names and trying to increase readerships and if one of these stories pans out, they would thump their chest and say, you heard that first from my blog.

Pesimism can kill your mind even if it was reasonable. This 70M pouds transfer kitty should be serious, and Higuan looks to be real. Most of us want Benteke too, I suggest bring ’em both. So we can make a fair judgement on Giroud quality, and stop convincing ourselves about his development. Arsene should give him a deadline on jan 31 2014 to fix his finishing problems. So if he fail (not suprise me) and go, we already have two great strikers.

Arsenal should pray hard about tonight’s game before the giants’ killers of Wigan decide for them where to play in Europe next season. If Arsenal qualified and and succeeded in signing Hiquin, the qunction is can they keep?

I think Higuain would be doing the right thing by coming to the EPL and would do well at both Tottenham or Arsenal. If both teams spend this summer and buy top-class players, there’s no reason why they can’t challenge for the title.
