Liverpool v QPR Preview, Team News, Likely Line-Ups & Predicted Score

Liverpool welcome relegated Queens Park Rangers to Anfield on Sunday for what’s sure to be an emotional day for Jamie Carragher. Here’s a preview for the game.

Anfield Kop

Liverpool welcome relegated Queens Park Rangers to Anfield on Sunday for what’s sure to be an emotional day for the retiring Jamie Carragher.

The long-serving Reds defender has decided to hang up his boots at the end of the season and will captain the side out for the final time this weekend and the Liverpool players will surely want him to sign off in style with a win.

Brendan Rodgers side have finished the season strongly and are unbeaten in their last seven Premier League games. Despite having nothing left to play for – with a seventh place finish guaranteed – the home side are still heavy favourites to see-off doomed QPR on Sunday.

Harry Redknapp has failed to work his magic at Loftus Road and the west Londoners relegation to the Championship was confirmed a few weeks ago. They will be looking to pick up just their fifth win of the season as they visit Merseyside, while defeat would confirm a bottom of the table finish.

Team News

Steven Gerrard remains out with a shoulder problem so Carragher will captain Liverpool in his final game for the club. After serving 16 years at Anfield, it’s expected that both teams will give him a guard of honour as he takes to the field on Sunday.

Striker Luis Suarez serves the fourth of his 10-match ban so Daniel Sturridge will once again get the opportunity to impress up front having scored a hat-trick last time out.

Defender Daniel Agger remains out with a back problem so Martin Skrtel could get a recall after missing last weeks win over Fulham through illness, with Sebastian Coates likely to make way. Martin Kelly, Joe Allen and Raheem Sterling all remain unavailable.

Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp has confirmed striker Loic Remy is available despite being arrested in midweek over allegations of rape. Adel Taarabt, Shaun Wright-Phillips and DJ Campbell all remain on the sidelines and Robert Green is expected to continue in goal with Julio Cesar out.

Predicted Score

Liverpool are on an excellent run of late while QPR look a side lacking in confidence, for obvious reasons, so I can only see a home win here. Liverpool 3-0 QPR
