David Luiz Set For Shock Chelsea Exit?

With the summer transfer window set to re-open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, could David Luiz be set to leave Chelsea this summer?
David Luiz could be set for a shock move to either Real Madrid or Barcelona this summer with new in-coming boss Jose Mourinho not convinced about the Brazilian, according to the Daily Mail.
Luiz has become a real fan-favourite at Stamford Bridge since signing form Benfica in 2011 but his defensive capabilities have been called into question on several occasions over the last two years.
The 26-year-old reinvented himself in a defensive midfield role during the second half of last season but it appears he’s not done enough to persuade Mourinho, with the Mail claiming the Portuguese coach is contemplating selling Luiz and bringing in a new defender, defensive midfielder and striker when he returns to west London next month.
Luiz will not be short of options if indeed Chelsea look to sell with the newspaper suggesting Real Madrid could well be interested if they sell Pepe this summer while La Liga champions Barcelona have held a long-standing interest in the Brazilian international.
While Mourinho’s re-appointment as boss will be be met with jubilation among the Stamford Bridge faithful, I’m not sure selling Luiz is going to go down too well with the Chelsea supporters. Personally, I would be shocked if Luiz moved on this summer but stranger things have happened in football.
