Double Blow For Arsenal As Higuain Agrees 4-Year Juve Deal & Jovetic Move Ruled Out

Arsenal are set to miss out on two of their top striker targets with Gonzalo Higuain about to join Juventus while Stevan Jovetic doesn’t want to leave Italy.

It looks like Arsenal could be set to miss out on two of their top striker targets with reports claiming Gonzalo Higuain is about to join Juventus while Stevan Jovetic doesn’t want to leave Italy.

Higuain set for Juve

First up and the Express are reporting that Arsenal target Gonzalo Higuain has agreed a deal to join Italian champions Juventus this summer.

The Argentine hitman is expected to leave Real Madrid this summer after director Angel Sanchez confirmed he’ll be sold at the end of the season and the Express claim Arsenal have shown an interest in bringing him to the Premier League with Arsene Wenger understood to be on the look-out for a world class striker this summer.

However, it appears we’ve missed the boat with the newspaper reporting that the Serie A champs have met with the players agents and agreed a four-year contract worth £100,000-a-week with the 25-year-old.

We may still have hope though, as the Express suggest the two clubs are yet to agree a fee, with Juve refusing to pay anymore than £19m – which is short of Madrid’s £25m asking price.

Jovetic wants Italy stay

Next up and we’ve also received a blow in our pursuit of Stevan Jovetic with the Metro carrying quotes from the players agent that suggest he want’s to remain in Italy this summer.

We’ve been strongly linked with a move for the 23-year-old striker in recent months and there were even reports earlier in the week that claimed a £24.5m deal had been agreed with Fiorentina.

However, it appears those reports were wide of the mark with the players agent Fali Ramadani revealing that the Montenegrin international has no interest in leaving Italy this summer.

‘Stevan prefers to stay in Italy rather than move away,’ Ramadani is quoted as saying by the Metro.

Despite their reported interest in Higuain, the Metro claim Juventus are also interested in Jovetic and the player is understood to favour a move to Turin, so we could end up losing both strikers to the same team.

I’m not totally convinced by Jovetic but I’ll be gutted if we do end up missing out on Higuain. I think he’d be a superb signing, so we’ll just have to hope Juventus can’t agree a fee with Madrid and we can swoop in and hijack the deal!
