With the summer transfer window set to re-open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Tottenham have opened talks over the signings of David Villa and Leandro Damiao, and Liverpool look to have missed out on Christian Eriksen.

Spurs open striker talks

First up and the Daily Mail are reporting that Tottenham have opened talks with Barcelona over the signing of David Villa and reopened talks with Internacional over long-term target Leandro Damiao.

Boss Andre Villas-Boas is expected to bring in at least one forward this summer and it appears he wants to do his business early. The report claims that Spurs are in negotiations with Barca over Villa but are unwilling to match the Catalans £12m asking price with chairman Daniel Levy only prepared to pay £10m.

The north Londoners are also understood to be back in talks with Internacional over Leandro Damiao. The Mail suggest the Brazilian hitman came close to moving to White Hart Lane in January but AVB has renewed his interest and could sell Emmanuel Adebayor to fund an £18m deal.

Liverpool miss out on Eriksen

Next up and the Express claim Liverpool are set to miss out on long-term target Christian Eriksen with the Ajax ace close to sealing a move to Borussia Dortmund.

The Danish playmaker is out of contract next summer and the newspaper suggests the Reds have been keeping tabs on him for some time with Brendan Rodgers understood to be keen on luring him to Anfield this summer.

However, it appears the Merseysiders have missed out with the Express claiming the 21-year-old has agreed a five-year deal with Champions League finalists Dortmund ahead of a deal worth in the region of £10m-£13m. Eriksen said:

“It’s definitely a club [Dortmund] I want to play for. It has many young players and an interesting style of play, and Jürgen Klopp is one of the best coaches.” Eriksen is quoted as saying by the Express.
